Small tank question.

With the acquisition of Ninja by Renatus, I’m worried for the future of my favorite pump tank the 45/45. That with an extended length reg is to me the perfect balance of capacity, weight savings and ergonomic comfort for an open class pump.

Do we think Renatus will keep the 45? Is HK’s 38(?) close enough if Renatus decides to get rid of it? Or should I buy another 45/45 just in case?

No idea, but that is also my favorite combo. 45/45 with the extended tank reg.

Here I am rocking a 15/45 or a 17/45 on my pump. Then again my local field is small, a big day might be 20 people.

The 36ci is much shorter than the 45/45 especially if you run a reg extension on a 45/45.

How much paint you usually shoot with your pump?

Im a big fan of the 15/45 and 17/45 if I can’t get those anymore I will go right back to my 3k lifetime hydro 2” tanks. I think you will like the 17ci I run a powerhouse reg on mine it’s a lil longer.

I generally run a JoLo with four 50’s or I have a custom pack that holds six 50’s.

Also if you look at the eBay link the seller will send you an offer for 15% off works out to be like $25 shipped. I might order a few more. The pods they send are good ones but they won’t work in the 5-50 packs you need the ones with the collars and dimples. I ran some hockey tape around mine to keep them in my 5-50. But I was always losing pods or dropping paint on the ground with my 5-50. They have a knock off 5-50 for around the same price. But the camo pack link I sent yah works really well till the Velcro gives out like any strapped pack. I get 2-3 hard seasons out of it I play with a 50round pack 95% of the time. It’s always my outside pod velcro that goes bad. Because you’re pulling and refilling all the time. Next time my Velcro goes bad on my custom pack I’m going to mod earth magnets in them.

I run 17/3k with butt plate. If I run T stock, then 22/3k under T stock

Yeah I found the 22 way to long to shoulder right off the grip frame ASA. I haven’t used it because of that.

So it’s about as long as a 17ci without the reg. Only 1/2” larger in diameter and just under 22ci.

Looks like the Lack of DOT certification limits filling options in the US.

CE/EN approved (European standards), with a 15-year service life. They don’t have (U.S. Department of Transportation) cert which means paintball fields in the US might not fill them due to regulations.


Went down a rabbit hole…

Prototype Tests: All are rigorous and similar—burst (often 2.25–3.4x working pressure), pressure cycling (thousands of cycles), impact/drop, temperature extremes, and fire exposure. The goal is to ensure the cylinder can withstand abuse far beyond normal use.

EN 12245/CE: Focuses more on periodic visual inspections (internal/external for damage, corrosion) every 2–3 years. Hydrostatic testing is not always mandatory but recommended for integrity check (water pressurization to measure expansion/leaks).

DOT-CFFC: Mandates hydrostatic retest every 5 years (pressurize with water, check for permanent expansion >10% or leaks). This is why U.S. shops require current hydro stamps.

ISO 11119: Allows flexibility (hydro or non-destructive like ultrasonic/acoustic); intervals 3–5 years.

Why the Difference Matters: CE tanks (like many Tuxing models) are safe and widely used globally but lack DOT's mandatory 5-year hydro protocol, leading to fill restrictions in the U.S. Both exceed real-world needs when maintained (dry air, no impacts).

Also you can’t buy it and have it hydro tested. Because government red tape says so. Technically government don’t even want hydro testers to test them. Boo I want that tank size!
