    Carter Ranger Pump

    **Carter Ranger Pump**
Because why not 🙃 I had this Ranger since high school and I wanted to do something a little more modern (more so I was bored and wanted to do something cool) I looked through the body and realized that if I removed the feedneck the feedhole is vertical vs at an angle. A Dremel and a cutoff wheel made quick work on removing the neck. A little clean up on the welds and it came out as expected.

I figured I’d use flyweightnate CCI Empire Feedneck Stub since it fits 1” bodies. Drilled and tapped for a 8/32 screw. I had to flip the feedneck and mount it the opposite direction because I’d be drilling into the section where the barrel sits and there’s not enough material for an ample amount of threading.

I need to change the screw to the proper length and remove little burs around the mounting hole but I’m satisfied so far. The body needs some surface touch ups and will be painted or ceracoated black?? eventually since it’s steel.

I thought about utilizing the sight rail holes also but I found this way to be easier for me. Post a pic of your design🙂

flyweightnate Carter trigger on a Carter Comp Frame. Took out the old roll pin and made a new pin from a 1/8th rod.

Put together with a a Rat Attack, Bushmaster pump handle and a DocsMachine freak barrel. Airs up as it should. I personally like the feel of the Bushmaster handle and I might just leave the body as is. I need to make a return trigger spring and put the grip back on. Also, shots over a chrono. Stoked on how it turned out. It was a good day. I do want to figure out how to do a VSC setup if y’all got some ideas….

Really like that setup, are you going to use some kind of stick feed? I have a Ranger myself I'm trying to put together.

I plan on using a horizontal feed and/or a 50rd hopper. Maybe try out a spring feed.

Made a return spring for the pump handle yesterday. I used a cracked PMI feedneck. Cut off the 1” part and made a lock collar and beveled the side the spring rests on. Spring was from a pop up sprinkler cut to length. I didn’t notice anything rubbing, yet. I may change the collar later later but for now it will stay as is.

That bush handle looks good on there.

Yes it does. The handle is longer than the original which I like. Can’t get a Carter pump handle so I’ll settle for the bushy.
