Repairing a cup seal?

So my CA PMI-II has had a leak down the barrel for a long time. I've been trying to source a new cup seal without much luck. I'm wondering if it's possible to repair the old cupseal. Perhaps removing the rubber that seals it and putting a small o-ring in it's place.

Has anyone tried anything like this?

I have had some luck with polishing sheridan and VM valve pins. put them in a drill and use steel wool and water to re-surface the seat if its not completely rotted.

Xemon has a thread somewhere on rebuilding them... I've had some luck with using toothpaste as a lapping compound and gently spinning the mating surfaces together. Plus the valve smells great. 😉

But the basic idea is that I removed the dead seal and glued an oring the proper size in there.

Glue is important. I have used a quad oring that fit very well, but would pop out and get stuck open. Sometimes it would go back together and start working again. It took a while to figure that one out

I have been rebuilding mine with O rings and they work great. Here is a link to a guy on eBay that is selling an O ring armorer's kit. The beauty of this kit is that it has O rings to rebuild the old style valve, new cartridge valve as well as smaller O rings that will fit the cup seals. Enough to do rebuilds 3 times over. I have been doing these rebuilds for awhile and I have noticed there are 2 different sizes of cup seals. This kit will have both. Let me know if you need any assistance.
