This is terrible news, but if anyone can salvage it I'd say you can. It also totally sounds like something Id do.
I wish I knew what kind of sacrifice to make to please mighty Velcor and stop the maddness.
Can we at lease see how badly the body is beat up? Are you able to reuse the barrel and other custom work, or did that take a hit too?

Here is a picture of the ovulation of the lower tube...
i have since repaired this with a cool pipe expander tool my buddy had.. but.... it's not perfect so I made a new body almost the same...

It doesnt look that bad from here Wally. Id still shoot it. Hell, Id machine a hammer to freely move in the tube if need be. Dinged up or not, your work is beautiful.
So I still dont understand. In this scenario, you started over completely, or you will/ did peel the barrel and magazine off of this lower tube and put them on the next lower tube?
And if you started over completely. Whats the plan with this bent assembly? I ask cuz Id buy it as a project if you are just gonna scrap it. It would give me the excuse to try to make a stock.

Here she is.... new body made and ready to polish....
i used the barrel section and the feed tube from the original model.
cut a couple slots in the front brass sleeve so titanium shows through more..polished up the barrel and am going to flame anodize the barrel also...
left the lower tube full length until you make a decision to cut it down or not...1 Photo

Oooh im sweatin. The window on the barrel is cool stuff. Cant wait to see it with the stock.
I dont know about cuttin it down. It sorta looks cool how it is. Or cut it flush with barrel.... i dunno.
Anyone else have an opinion?
-Leave the lower tube just like it is (kinda classic)
-Cut it flush with barrel (maybe better aesthetically?)
-cut it way down (lighter? Easier to reach? Maybe looks more rifle like?)

Check it out and let me know if it works for ya....

Brickhaus, yours I did more subdued on purpose to go with the look of the powdercoat...
This one I polished up and chucked it into a drill on low speed making it easer to control the coloring... not a perfect method but good for flame anodizing..

Awesome to hear how you do these little things differently. I hope my comment didn't ensue I'm not completely in love with my build. I know your work all has uniqueness, and my build makes me smile ear to ear.
Just more curious as to you achieve the different looks.

Sorry about the wait but the last coat of boiled linseed oil I rubbed in took four days to dry. It's been cold and wet up here this last week.
Still not complete but together..".I forgot to bore a hole for the dropout into the stock, need to make a bit shorter linkage arm ( I'll do brass), powdercoat the trigger block black. Add a screw here and there....
Did test out and she fires up to speed nicely with a smooth pull..
Feedport is flamed anodized to match barrel. Just rotate to open and close....

Omg, i didnt think you had any more razzle dazzle left. But here we are. Let me grab my jaw from the shop floor.
And I mean, I didnt think you could impress me any further than you have. But man. This has to be one of the coolest, most distinct markers Ive laid witness to.Last edited by BrickHaus; 04-07-2022, 04:23 PM.
