    Mare's Leg Lever Build Along

    Mare’s Leg Build Along

Alright, so I have done a couple of Sheridan projects over the past several months and I’m starting to get the hang of it (I think). I’ve decided that I want to dive down a hell of a rabbit hole…. get frustrated, swear a lot, keep my blood pressure elevated, and waste a ton of time and money….and (hopefully) end up with a lever action marker that has a 41% probability of a 67% chance that it will function 79% of the time.

I have been working on this a bit already, but I think now is the time to begin documenting in case anyone wants to try this themselves, avoid my mistakes and improve on what I've done. I will start at the very beginning and dig up as many old pictures as I can so I can document the entire process entirely.

That begin said, please keep in mind that I am working entirely with limited hand tools (And I currently don’t have the space for more tools at the moment)
I have a hand drill, an oscillating saw, a reciprocating saw, Dremel, some wood chisels, a blow torch, and a heat gun...I don’t even have a drill press or a bench vise – more about wood chisels and lack of a bench vise to come!

    MEANING:
    1. This will take a LONG time
    2. It's gonna be rough
    3. When making a suggestion, please don’t lead with “just put it on a lathe and…”, or “If you had a Bridgeport…” etc.
    4. I’ll be putting 110% of my inner Bubba into this thing.

I’m also going to track my current parts list (add what I buy and delete what doesn’t work) to keep it all in one location that is easy to find.

Thats pretty close to what my plan is, except I'll be cutting, drilling, grinding and soldering brass.

I'm going to try to avoid using any proprietary designs/info if I can help it, but thank you for your support!

this looks very similar to what Lance (noxx55) was planning for his run... personally I prefer a little more 'meat' on the lever linkage side of the mounting plate, so went with a one-piece welded loop & linkage arm assembly for my levers. just my $.02

That one isn’t proprietary. That’s from an old member who did a lot of homebrew work also. I think that’s the only piece that he had someone else make for the job, if I recall correctly. That pic is from years ago, and I may be remembering incorrectly. Username was josilk and made some crazy homebrew brass creations
