    Well, I got hella lucky...

So, I've been getting back into paintball recently and I've always loved old Sheridan markers; I had a PGP back in the 90s and it was a super-great backup gun. I always had my eye on finding a P68-SC because I loved the way they looked and handled, but I could never find one for sale even back then. For whatever reason they were hella hard to find. Never been clear on why.

    Anyhow, flash forward twenty-some years. I'm having a conversation about paintball with my shift lead (who used to play) and I find out his brother was hardcore into it back in the same time period and still had his old gear. I ask my lead what his brother used to rock and I get a picture that included this gun, in the box you see (along with a lot of other stuff like old web gear, a mask, etc.). Elated, I ask how much his brother might want for the gun. The response I got;

"Seventy five, but he has to take all of it".

    Me: "SOLD!"

I mean really; a P68-SC in this shape, with the valve tool and in its original box, for 75 bones?? Yeah, shut up and take my freakin' money.

I finally got the deal done today and damn if this thing ain't gorgeous. I've never seen a Sheridan that was this black before; every one I've ever handled has always been chocolate brown, even the ones I saw back in the 90s. Teenage Me is quite happy. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but ah well. It's enough that I finally have the gun I wanted.

        Take my money indeed 🤤

May I also say that in addition to fine taste for vintage brass and extraordinary luck, you also have an excellent screen name

          Thanks for noticing.

In addition to being into paintball, I'm a writer who likes booze. It seemed appropriate.

I checked; the quick-change was made by TASO. Still a dynamite brand, but its not a Palmer's.

Since somebody asked, this is the rest of the stuff I got with the gun. For $75.

        Please don't hate me lol

That's a miraculous time capsule kinda deal there. The P68 was a fantastic bargain on its own but throw in the period correct Vents and pack? Unreal.

Would you be interested in selling that old mask?

Hell yeah I'll take it thanks man, been wanting to try to put an old school mask together to play with, if it's safe and the field let's me 😂

yep, very, very lucky... while I prefer the pumpstroke of a k-series, the p68sc was imho the best straight-out-of-the-box player's brassgun (some might say the pgp2k had more features but the p68sc just feels better). excellent base for modification, though that finish is too pretty to alter

Beautiful pieces you have there! I especially dig the lever action one, that's just dope.

And yes, agreed on the finish. I bought it with the intent of modding it, but now that I have it in my hands...damn, its pretty just the way it is. I'll probably hunt up a few mods for it (definitely some PMI grips if I can find them), but I think I'll leave the finish as-is and go more for a functional woodsball shooter. There's apparently a legit woodsball field about an hour from where I live so I'd have a place to play with it.

Click image for larger version Name:	20230804_172833.jpg Views:	0 Size:	2.48 MB ID:	435999 So I'm doing an examination of the P68-SC in preparation for doing some modifications to it and I noticed the grip panels are not a design I've ever seen before; according to the source I bought this gun from these are the original grips. Even in the manual (which came with the gun) the grips are depicted as having a gold circle with an "S" in it. As far as my understanding goes, the latter I mentioned is the standard Sheridan grip medallion from the factory. But obviously that's not what I have here. Can anyone tell me what's up?

Also, the marker doesn't have a model name on the feed tube, just the standard warning label on the left side of it. Every other Sheridan stock class marker I've seen had "= = MODEL = = (X) = =" stamped into the feed tube, and this one doesn't have that. Were P68-SCs not labeled like the other P-series guns were?

Yours is likely a very late model p68

@Ecapnation: That would explain why its in the shape its in. Apparently the original owner stopped playing in the early 2000s, put his gear in his closet and left it until I bought it.

@XEMON: Yeah that grip designation confused me a bit. I know Sheridan made pellet guns but I thought Crosman bought the Benjamin half of the business in the 80s. Could be my personal timeline is off.
