    Shocker Sci-Fi board

Anyone have experience with the Sci-Fi boards for the Shocker (or any variety)?

The project Shocker I got sucked up one of my LS boards as the board it came with shat the bed. That means I could use another. [I have a bunch of DS boards, and could easily use one, but I really don't like those.]

I have a Sci-Fi board in my Karnivor and Torque. From my experience it is a great board, and the Bluetooth config is awesome. Way easier than trying to count trigger pulls and making sure you have the correct color LED on. Josh has a setup video for the Torque talking a little bit about the board:

Th J4 Torque uses the Sci-Fi Paintball board. This is a Bluetooth Board - which means you can setup and tune it with your phone. How to do that? Watch this v...

Excellent. Looks like a solid board, and the only replacement Shocker board easily available.

Just installed one today in a minty shoebox Shocker Turbo - so far seems really nice.

I ordered one a couple days ago. How painless was the install? Ready to go out of the box?

It was ready to go out of the box - Bolted it in, and put in a 9v. Front switch turns it on and off. Note, that it would not seem to go into blutetooth menu mode unless the lefthand side switch was in I think the forward position. Just launch the app with the marker in menu mode and you will see the marker right there.

Do the Sci-Fi boards work with DS & LS shockers? I know it's mostly just the switch difference, but I know some triggers/frames aren't necessarily interchangeable.

He can install either switch type. Just be sure to specify upon ordering. I don't know why one would go with a DS board, but there are some sociopaths on this message board.

As for the trigger frames, those are irrelevant regarding the switch type. I can't speak for the aftermarket frames. The choice of trigger may require some configuring or modification. Eclipse or NDZ triggers can work with a DS board, but I've found they rarely line up perfectly to hit the switch reliably, so you need to add a nut to the top of the activation screw to broaden the contact area. As for using an early stock trigger with an LS board, one would need to grind down the hump on top (or install a set screw if you are that handy). Then you get into the position of the return spring vs. the trigger's rear geometry...

Hmm interesting. I believe I have a DS on my shoebox, but since my trigger is a one-off I'd be curious if any modification would be necessary with an LS board

Next time you open it up, take a glance on the switch on the bottom of the board. A Lever Switch should be immediately obvious with its metal tab, and the Dome Switch is a little circular jobby on the bottom. If the trigger you have possesses a pronounced triangular hump on top for interfacing with the DS, that would need to be ground down to use with an LS (or a new trigger swapped in). With the Sci-Fi and your situation, I'd just ask for the DS.

I'm 99% sure it's a DS simply because it feels way different than any lever switch gun I've used. Much heavier with a louder click.

If it feels like a push button rather than a mouse click, that's a DS. If I remember right, your Shocker is an earlier one, so almost certainly a DS. I'm also not hating too much on DS boards, cuz they can be useful with a Turbo or S/F board. Otherwise, they're slower than molasses.
