Original Manifold Max-Flo Lefthand ASA Thread?!

    I am losing my mind.
I Couldn't fit my tank to my newly acquired Shoebox shocker Turbo and under any light i look at it, it looks like the ASA has lefthanded threads.

There is some wear on the entry, but it does not look cross threaded to me. I tried both my recent bottle as well as an old ASA extender but no dice.

Pics to follow, but for now please humour me.

You are not mistaken. They require a special bottle valve with left hand threads. This is only specific to max-flo’s but not all max-flo’s. I can’t remember all of the details.

It's not ALL maxflos that have left hand threads. I had an original style on a 01 shocker that had regular ASA threads. I thought most had regular ASA threads for use with an HPA tank with only an on/off valve

I’ve got an old right feed shocker that has left hand thread max flow as well. You’re not crazy……at least not about this

From what I understand the original Max Flo came with a tank that had just a valve and no regulator (the Max Flo was the primary regulator). The reverse threads were meant to keep people from screwing the unregulated tank into whatever gun and grendading it.

That explains also why mine has a gauge on the inlet that goes up to 4500.

I thought it was to distinguish the fiber wrapped tanks filled with CO2

Managed to Relocate the Max-Flo with a printed Bracket.
I have not seen any angled mounts so this might be unique. If i go for a straight mount, i could probably have one machined at work, but for now printed is fine.

Still some work to do, but I got to air up the marker for the first time and it seems to run just fine. Kind of odd to have Ramping on a marker this old. The Trigger is extremely sloppy and the safety pin doest restrict movement enough to actually render the marker safe.

What are your Opinions on Keeping original parts around after upgrading? For example I don't see a world where the left handed manifold would be of use to someone but it feels like sacrilege to toss it.
