The bare chassis is basically the tube plus some 1/2" u-channel that was used for mounting points. Kind of reminds me of a Tippmann Pro-series body. π

And one last "update"... I took a page out of the Ghostflanker playbook and made a bracket to mount the back of the magwell to the grip frame. It's super solid now, with no rattles or loose feeling.
I believe he mounts his frames closer to the magwell for spacing reasons. I have the luxury of being able to position things wherever I want, so my bracket isn't quite as compact.

The mods continue: got my gas-thru frame setup mostly together.
I had an Inline Stabilizer lying around that got converted to a Female Stabilizer (PPS still had the correct pieces needed in stock) and drilled/tapped for a 4mm hose barb (10-32 thread). I sourced the ring mount from Amazon - it's a modified 1" scope ring that I drilled mounting holes in.
I drilled a series of holes in the frame to route the hosing through, added a "T" fitting, and installed the SMAV. The only connections left are the two on-gun barbs - the rear donut barb and the front QEV. These won't really need to be touched once everything is installed, so the poor accessibility is really more of a brief annoyance for assembly. As long as there's no leaks, I won't need to touch anything once it's together.

Cal440 - definitely, that was the first thing I verified before I started the project. I lucked out that the geometry works - the stack height is basically perfect.
I had to do a bit of adjustment on the breech location to get it to feed FS rounds properly, and I'm still not 100% positive they'll feed without any flips yet, but roundball is no problem.
I'm almost done with the brasswork - got a couple additions to finish off the mounting rail and I need to build a rear cap for the main body - and then decide on finish before I can do final assembly.
If there's enough left in the can, it's likely getting the classic wrinkle black unless I can get someone to powdercoat it for me.

And done - need to air it up to verify operation still, but I'm pretty sure it'll be good. π

Cdn_Cuda, thanks! I like how it turned out... it's not as compact as a Ghostflanker MFG, but it's still not as bloated as a lot of magfed stuff tends to be.
Cal440 - I thought about sandblasting it and letting it patina, but my vision was always to go "Tactical Black" with it. If it helps, I'm working on some brass "iron" sights that I plan to leave bare. π

It's gotta be worth holding onto for me to keep it, and so far only two markers have made the cut. πOriginally posted by Psycho91 View PostNow how long is he gonna hold onto it before he sells it π, we all know how he is
This one might make it too.

Found a tank with a bit of air in it when I was checking my gearbag for something else so I thought I'd air this thing up... leaks everywhere. π
The QEV was bad so I swapped it out for another one I had lying around... and the hose feeding the rear donut was leaking pretty badly so I pulled the frame off to check. Turns out it was a bit too short for the angle it was on, so I replaced it with a longer section, re-routed a couple things, and got everything sealed up.
Shot a mag through it - no chops, fed perfectly - so I think it's ready for a field test in a couple of months.Last edited by Jordan; 02-27-2025, 08:39 PM.

Exactly.Originally posted by Frmrspec View PostHow/where do you route the airline to the QEV? do you run it all the way back and around the rear donut?
There's a couple access holes drilled in the body, both hidden by the rails I added. The hose runs along the top of the body through the rail, down through the body cavity via the two holes, and into the lower rail/frame mount. From there it goes through the access hole that was drilled for the air feed into the rear donut, and connects to the SMAV in the grip frame.
It's probably 8-ish inches long? I might have gotten away without a QEV but built the marker around assuming I'd need one rather than have to retro-fit one if the hose length proved to be an issue.Last edited by Jordan; 01-23-2025, 07:42 PM.
