Sterling VASA plate - gaging interest for potential run.

    Hello y'all,

I am going to make a plate for the sterling that extend passed the front of the frame to be able to mount an Automag VASA.

If there is enough demand, I may send them out and have a small run made.
Sooo … who might be interested?

Price would depend on quantity; 10 or 15 would be the absolute minimum run.

    Thanks,
    X

I don’t currently have a sterling but I’d consider buying one just in case 🫠

I’ve got an old rainman one on my sterling from way back. Buddy tripped and fell and now mine has a slight angle back towards the grip., but still works well.

Are you thinking about making a run? I can get you a proper print if needed ...

depending on when they are needed, potentially.
Ordered the phase converter for my machine today. expected to be delivered in 2 weeks. Hoping to have power sorted by January and then i could tackle it. If someone could do it faster and easier feel free to go that route.

Shoot me some pics if you could. Even if i can't do the first run maybe i can do them later.

            Im in no hurry ...
Are you going to CNC it?
I can get you CAD and/or proper print (in any other file format you need)

No pressure, if you pass ill at least make 1 or 2 for myself, and maybe run a set if there is demand (I dont really have the time to make the run myself, so thats where i will have to outsource it)

I am much more likely to purchase these if anodized in black.

I have two at 90%, and just can't dig through the pile of projects to get back to the mill.

            Which generation(s) would it fit?

I’m confused on what exactly we are talking about I can’t visualize it.

I would love to see a proper UC pump kit that would definitely be cool to integrate into a Vert mount plate. Something that would take say a CCI vendetta handle.

An undercocking kit to that adapter would be a great addition!

Oh I see now. Mine already has that option. It just attaches at to the outside of the trigger guard. (Like a Phantom VSC)

Having the pump rod on the top makes it hard to adapt other pump kit ...

Does that rear hole need to use a countersunk screw or can a caphead or low profile screw be used?

The top of the screw needs to be flush as it sits against the body

I understand, but can it be a cap screw vs a countersunk screw?

oh, that's a nice one, definitely one of the best I've seen!

Personally, I like a stock pump handle, although a connection with a bolt seems to be a "weak" spot from the aesthetic point of view. It definitely works flawlessly.

Maybe a dual rod would be nice ;-)

Found a place that can gat them most of the way complete and I can finish them at home 😁

Im thinking about making them out of stainless to be a bit stronger and no anodizing needed. Looking at brass too, but the cost is higher and I'm worried it may be a bit soft.
              what y'all think?

Doing some test fit with 3D prints to mail the dimensions and get a final quote but we're probably looking at $30-40 a piece for the stainless and $40-50 for the brass ...

after installing vertical asa and inline reg or gas through grip, to my surprise, there can be significant leverage on the front of the the rail/plate, so stainless is not a bad idea, or rather thick aluminium

Unfortunately the thickness of the plate is not adjustable, it needs to be proper for the sear to catch properly

true, and this plate/rail can vary depending on the sterling model

I'd personally take stainless over brass, and aluminum over stainless. I like a gloss anno as well.
