Can anyone tell me about composite / plastic grip frames pros and cons for the sterling PUMP.

I wouldn't be worried about the plastic frames. I haven't used one, but the metal frames on the oldest ones aren't great from a finish perspective. It's such a simple design it should work regardless, not like an autococker where there's lots of contact sliding.
