OK, one break…delivered via the opposite team…broke on the feed neck and shot goo directly into the gun in the process. I didn’t fire after taking this hit. This is exactly how it landed. It just *injected* that ish. There was paint on top of the bolt, up inside the feed, inside the hopper, on all the paint in that area. It was worse than breaking paint inside the gun yourself because usually most of that is ahead of the bolt and cleans up easy. It looks like it got hit from the side but it wasn’t. The paint basically rode up the barrel and broke on the feed.
Now I’m suddenly paying attention to that little plastic piece that is on vert feed Phantoms and noticing how it prevents this exact issue. Mike was more concerned with stuff getting into guns than most manufacturers. Other than the obvious (tape!) what could be done to obscure that port and still look classy? Historically what have manufacturers (other than CCI) done?
