T8 T8.1 rear engine design

Can anyone explain why some T8's and T8.1's have thread in engines while others have bolt on back blocks. I have multiples of each t8/8.1 with different rear assemblies.

I suppose they made various production changes as these were made. I seem to remember coming across various slight differences button can’t seem to remember now. Maybe a spring behind the trigger in one version? Or I’m mixing it up with a TIPX….

Thanks for the response. I would have thought that it was an improvement to the design. But I have 8.1's with both Tiberius and First Strike badges that have the direct screw in engine and Tiberius 8 and 8.1 that have the bolt on block engine. So random.

Weird. Maybe using up some old stock? Mostly been working on T9s lately abs haven’t had a T8 to poke around in a few years. I’ll might pick up a bunch of gear with a silver T8 and I’ll have to look and see what’s on it.

Add to the confusion the FSC. Mine has direct screw in engine with 2 rear screws to retain engine. Wanted to add rear Asa. That requires a 4 screw pattern on the back . Saw video on how to install. So it is now apparent that even the FSC has different rear assemblies. And no information telling you why or when there was a change in design. Making it a crap shoot to upgrade your equipment.

The engine on the FSC has remained the same over time. I'm providing the manual below:

You are correct. I had a TCP not a FSC. I now have both and the FSC has a different rear engine.

Just picked up a Tib T8 and this one has the middle bolt under the barrel while most, I believe, have the bolt above the trigger under the safety.

It’s bolt on engine.

There are three screws to remove the bottom part of the gun, one in the back, one in the middle (as show in photos) and one in front. From the other T8s and T9s I've seen the middle screw (shown in photos) has the Allan bolt underneath the safety, where as the one I currently have you need to take the barrel off to remove the bolt as it's above the safety. (shown in photo 1)

Got it. There are so many variations of the rear blocks on the Tiberius pistols from 2006 to 2013 that I actually have to see what the question is pertaining to. Often times they would upgrade the build process mid model of the Tac 8s which made sourcing replacement parts more fun. Essentially as Tiberius techs explained it to me, they were just perfecting the model, mid-model, with each production build and that's why the Tac 8s vary so much.

The rear blocks on these markers whether an actual paintball Tac 8, or the less lethal version, are acting as a simple fail safe device for the following reasons:
- to prevent pressure spiking that can harm a person;
- The Tiberius pistol COULD explode. Depending on the rear block... maybe???? But I need had this happen on any other 12 gram pistol. Ever
- to prevent ball breakage while shooting at higher velocities. Ball chopping in mag fed markers is not fun;
- to make it possible to "tune" the marker for optimum function (which was overkill since 12 grams are not a consistent propellant source ).

I have the unpopular opinion that the rear block setup is not necessary for the reasons why Tiberius AND enthusiasts say it needs to be there. ...I welded mine. Shut.

Last time I had a T8 in my hand was probably 10 years ago so I would no idea the difference between models. Glad it was pointed out!
