I believe that BretG or another member was working on mods to the cup seal bodies to allow HPA with a high out reg. on the tank to be used on a 68 special, might have been before the reboot.I recall seeing pics of these mods, Could try to PM him. As for the 12 grams you may get about 12 good shots with them as this gun was designed to run on liquid CO2,with a siphon tank and Tippmann's of this era weren't known for their efficiency.
converting to HPA sounds so.....practical !!! How about trying to unreasonably keep co2 use alive, source out or build a Siphon tank, and blow sweet co2 clouds like Denny Tippmann intended (R.I.P ) ?

Quick answers to question and comments. Yes the 68 special, SMG60 and SMG68 can all be modified to run on HPA at 850 to 1000 psi. PSI requirements are unique to each gun. The reason to change is more the lack of fields offering CO2. Why bother? Because there is nothing like the clunk of those old Tippmanns when firing.
No. Refer to the older posts noted above. It requires modding the internals of the valve for more space and flow and increasing the operating pressure.
