    What happened with the Phenom?

So while I Was gone this seemed to have disappeared. Why? I loved the platform. It was easy to wor on, reliable, and seemed like some thing that would go for a long time. What happened?

I can't speak to specifics, but I think Tippmann is focusing more on 'lower end' entry-level guns like the Stormer & Cronus. I'd imagine it's the same reason the Crossover disappeared.

Eclipse has all but corned the entry level market with the Emek and I would imagine the Phenom would be directly competing so it's a steep hill to climb.

      Discontinued, and molds were destroyed.

Gi sports basically killed off everything "high end" when they purchased Tippmann

They still pop up on the used market for decent prices but even on the used marked there's not a lot of interest. Their dumb naming choice didn't help it very much either. X7 being totally different than an X7 Phenom.

100% agree. I've been curious about trying a Phenom, but the only thing that ever seems to pop up are the blowback X7s

They pop up decently often in my neck of the woods. I'll keep an eye out if I see one for cheap and let you know.

I always hated those Cyclone feeds massive hoppers and all the extra stuff on it was pretty pointless. Give me a classic 98 with a good barrel over the Phenom any day.

Were those things ever really considered โ€œhigh endโ€

Only "high end" for Tippmann. Not in the general paintball world.

Not trying to cause discord but was the phenom reliable? I know the A-5 and 98 were very robust markers and great for rentals or loaners. I was around for the phenoms conception and production but left during their hayday. I seem to remember that the internals of a phenom were completely different from a tippmann and more resembled a automag. Is that part of what made them less desirable because the internals were not as simple?

I had one for a while. It never gave me a single problem. Don't even remember it ever breaking paint either. My battery died and I just used it in mech mode. wish I could find my old one. Sold it to someone on here around 9-10 years ago.

The Phenom is reliable but is often prone to literally unfixable problems. I've had at least a half dozen mech phenoms that flatout would not work when you try to upgrade to an electronic frame. We tried new electronics, new frames, new engines. We sent them to Tippmann and they couldn't fix it. They're finicky in weird ways. After a few years, we stopped recommending them because about half the time, they were pretty much impossible to keep working.

              Hello!

We were sponsored by Tippmann for the X7 Phenoms. Besides the occasional o ring, they were great.

              Best,
