    Aftermarket Prolite Barrels?

What barrels fit nicely in the Prolite shroud? I'd like to get something with some old school style that is longer than stock and has porting further out to get the velocity up.

Also if someone happens to know the OD of an A5 ifit adapter I'd be interested.

Whenever I need a barrel for an old school marker my first stop is pro-team products.

I have a DYE stainless I would sell.
      No longer own a pro-lite.

Need Inception Designs or Shocktech Products? Let me know!

the JJ Ceramic fits perfect, so does the 16" all american in prolite threads, and the original dye barrels

You can see two of these on Tippmann's in my collection, they both fit through the pro-lite, pro-carb shroud.....almost as if they were designed for that shroud.....

i'll post up my hoard later but did find a pic of the 3rd gun I've ever owned (1st was brass eagle king cobra, 2nd was a Tippmann vert asa 68-carbine) Found it used in a local classifieds paper called Triad. It originally came with that green specked bull barrel, and a 14" nickle plated brass Boa Concealer. Over the time

One option as well is to cut that shroud, here is proof it can be done cleanly.....then you don't need to work around clearing the shroud at all !

For sale is a nice shape Tippmann Pro-Carbine with a custom vertical ASA kit - the vertical kit is pretty neat, it was a small run by a garage shop (forget name). It was machined to look like the Tippmann angled vert asa's, but as you can see it is straight up and down. Kind of a rare part! - mini gauge - gog sp1 asa - cleanly

I'd like the barrel OD to be approximately .875" at 6.5" from the breach end of the barrel (in order to have the shroud tight).

I have a 14" J&J that I tried and the necked down part aligned with the end of the shroud. A 12" would probably work, but it's not as long as I'd like and the porting would start pretty far back.

I'm not a fan of Armson barrels due to the 'rifling' causing quite a bit of blow-by.

I currently have a BT4 stock barrel on it. It's large bore and is ported about 4" from the breech so the air doesn't get much length to act on the ball before it vents.

I might just take the shroud into the local proshop and see what barrels fit nicely.

the J&J on my pro-carbine is a 14" on my collection page, if you want to see how that looks.

Do they have much selection at your local store for A5/pro-lite threaded barrels?

My stock X7 barrel was surprisingly good, or at least better than the beat up stock one that came with this one.

I went to the proshop today and picked up a LAPCO Bigshot 12". Looks like it was designed around this shroud since the diameter of the barrel is the correct diameter at the ends of the shroud and tapered down between. It also has Procarb/F4/A5 milled into it. I sure hope this gets the velocity up to be usable. I spent almost $100 CAD on this thing (like 5x more than the gun)! Kinda wish it was gloss and 14". I might return it (or sell it to one of you fellas).

I tried this today and it's still chronoing low (high 100s). Both this and shimming the drive spring made no difference in velocity. It gets strong recock though, even without the spring shim. I might try a lighter valve spring.

Are you using CO2? Those air lines choke hpa.

Ya I was using 800psi HPA. I tried with CO2 a month ago and it was getting 260s-270s with the velocity screw fully open. It was 10-15°C out. I'd imagine it should be getting into the 300s with the velocity screw open fully. Just strange how the recock is that strong but the velocity is so low.

Hi Toestr, I've had a couple pro-ams and they would only hit 235-240 fps on HPA, but switching to co2 solved the problem immediately for those guns. I believe my mini lite also has this same issue with HPA.

I'm going to goof around with my mini lite and my liquid co2 siphon tanks today, since in theory, it should be able to run liquid. I have a Taso RVA on this gun, so that should help with the tuning, hopefully without having to cut the mainspring. If I can get it working on the sweet liquid, I'll bring it tomorrow.

Internal volume is also a big factor... Prolite valves are a direct descendant of the 68 Special version, and altering the poppets to both increase flow and internal volume of the valve, along with a lighter valve spring, were key elements to getting my Special up to 270s on HPA (900psi output).

Might be worth taking a look at whether you can change anything there.

It's interesting that you have a strong recock but low velocity... I would suspect limited flow through the front poppet causing that. It is a balancing act with those valves, and it sounds like your valve is out of "balance" somehow.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."
