Cutting the trigger guard off chameleon model98

    Hello y'all,

I got a chameleon model98 in a tade, and I'm thinking about putting a ring trigger and rt kit on it smog a few other upgrades😅
How much of a blasphemy would it be to chop the trigger guard and maybe milling a few things inside to fit the rt?

    What y'all think?

    Thanks,
    X

How’s the condition of the finish? I personally wouldn’t if it’s super nice but that’s just like my opinion man. Source one of the old ptp 99 double trigger guards and it’ll look legit.

Yeah I'd probably do the RT but not cut the guard off but that's just me

Its a thing, if you own it cut away if that is what interests you. I have no issue with modifying things that I own so my opinion on what you do with your things is, "make yourself happy and F**k anyone else's opinion".

Go nuts! These aren't super rare or worth a lot of money. Have fun, make a monster, use it to shoot faces.

I don't see the advantage of a double trigger with an RT. I don't know anyone that "walked" an RT, they just sweet-spotted it so it went "full auto" when they wanted by holding the trigger just right.

I recall the longer moment arm on the double trigger made it rt better. I recall pulling on the bottom trigger grove a lot.

That is true, it would make it a little easier/more forgiving.

It would have a ring trigger, so no walking anyway 😁

                And?

Carver ones were never meant to be three barrels sequential firing systems

Spyders were never meant to be closed bolt

Hammer 7s were never designed to be lever action

Rainmakers were not supposed to be mechanical

Ariacron pistols were not supposed to fire full auto

All of these are MCB projects. If anything what something is not supposed to be inspires us to make it that

It's in decent shape except for some dings on the back of the frame. It would be trashed I would not feel one bit, but I'm just wondering if I'll feel bad once it's done and over 😋
If I do it I would probably use a cool aftermarket guard or make one out of stainless and heat oxide some purply color ...

Do you mean the internal tabs and the hole on the right shell?
I'm planning on doing all that and using a 98comp valve body so everything looks like the 98custom but with the guild body 😁

The idea is to move the inside of the black one in the chameleon body 😁

The holes, slots and grooves are not present in the first gen 98's

It's going to be a bit of grinding to do all that

Be sure to check the trigger linkage before you commit to this most of the m98s used pull springs for the triggers and Sears while most of the 98Cs use push springs for both.

It's not an insurmountable problem but is rather annoying to have to fix between the two

Also you'll need to modify the trigger spring to be in front of the trigger not behind..

It's doable but with this one being a unique factory color and 98 customs cheap as they are is the work justification worth it.... To me no.

That starts to be a bit more than I want to put in this ..
I was gonna keep 1 tricked out 98 and 1 A5, but I may drop the A5 and just keep 2 98s, the chameleon and a tricked out one ...

That’s a pre badge TPI 98, I think it has the same trigger parts as an old M.

So just don't do the trigger in the m98. Put the RT in it and maybe a RVA.
