The Ion uses different sized gaslines, 1/8th PTC & 5/32 PTC, but the actual threads into the body were 10-32 for both.
I've used both an ion fitting and a tippmann fitting before. Don't remember which size line I had. Whatever was sitting around probably but it worked so I didn't really care. Now granted, that was for an RT system so it's not like it was constantly holding pressure

Sure. I'm drilling holes in my emek, along the top of the spine behind the feedneck. Just like the hellfire and other full auto mods do I'm bypassing the second to last ring on the spool assembly but I'm running the air external instead of internal. I am planning to use a tippmann RT flow adjustment to control the flow rate of the air and therefore ROF.
In theory, if I close the screw in all the way the marker should then be semi auto only. I've already done some experimenting with a stock switch assembly, grinding my own bypass channel in and confirmed that the larger the channel is the higher the ROF.

You probably know this, but just in case, and for other readers who might not, do remember the Tippmann RT flow adjustment fitting (I recall this fitting is made by Parker, but I don't remember the part number) only restricts flow in one restriction. In one direction (for example, on a Tippmann from the valve area to the RT piston) the air flow is unrestricted. In the other direction (for example, on a Tippmann from the RT piston to the valve area) is restricted. This is why on a RT Tippmann, if the adjustment screw is screwed all of the way in, after a few shots the trigger is hard if not impossible to pull, as no air can escape (at least not quickly). It's also why if you install the fitting in the wrong location, you get no RT. In your setup you will want the Tippmann RT flow adjustment fitting on the back side of the EMek.
