I have a 98 Custom that has trouble catching the sear reliably. Both the hammer and sear looked a bit worn so I replaced the hammer and ordered the wrong sear. Since it doesn't look like the make the pull style sear 98-35 anymore I tried to square off the end of the sear and did a crappy job with a dremel. It's less bad than before but not reliable enough and definitely not good enough to run the RT. Ideas? Other than buying some other 98s for parts, which probably will do anyway.

Other than getting another sear you could try a stiffer sear spring. Madman kits come with 2, a light one and a heavy one. The red one is the heavy one and could solve your problem. -

The only replacement sear I could find was in a 98C Platinum Series parts master kit for $250, at ActionVillage.
All the smaller kits do not contain a sear This kit has a small pile.
edit: Will this sear work for you? $8.99
