    Allen Paintball Products

So as of last year, I got back into paintball since when I last played in the early 2000's. Rebuilt my original Tippmann 98 Custom and outfitted it with some upgrades that I couldn't afford or wasn't aware of back in those days.

I recently purchased an RVA and Hittmann barrel from Allen Paintball Products (APP) and didn't realize they were based in Bedford, Ohio. I grew up in a suburb of Bedford and still reside in Northeast Ohio. Never knew about this place until recently.

It looks like they're out of business now, or at least no longer machining new stock, but you can still place orders on their website. There's also an eBay account called 'targetball' that appears to be them selling similar stock. Really impressed with the quality of both items I purchased from them. I see other posts here and there on MCB referencing APP parts for other markers, apparently I've been living under a rock for sometime.

Yeah, they were around forever. Made quality stuff, though not always the most stylish. Their website forever looked like it was from 1998. I still have several pods from them, and their indestructible Atomic Elbows.

Still looks like it's from the 90's. Halfway just was curious how long through the checkout process I could get and was surprised it got through to charging my card. Happily surprised when I got the shipment notification and when they showed up on my doorstep.

Here are the aforementioned parts on my 98:

I don’t even like 98’s and that’s a pretty sweet looking one. Well done.

Thanks! It used to be completely camouflaged which was all the rage back in the early 00's woodsball. Decided to go a bit flashier this time around.

Still on the fence on the picatinny rail on top, it came with the flatline barrel I was originally using this year. Serves no purpose outside of aesthetics.

APP ranks up there with PTP in terms of quality and performance for me. They didn’t make junk quality “upgrades” like most of the aftermarket companies of the late 90s-mid 00s. They flew under the radar for the most part because they weren’t flashy and held true to the psuedo tactical style that paintball started out with. Never full tactical or full bling bling.

Their front grip for the 98 is great and someone is selling a few on EBay. https://ebay.us/m/rUrLEX. If you pick one up it’ll look dusty but some drops of synthetic oil and it’ll come back to life.

Those rubber front grips appear to still be available on their site. Even though I'm using an expansion chamber, was thinking of picking one of those up as well as a few of their split and non-split 45 grips. They're not ridiculously priced, either.

I thought they were sold out. I know Tippmannparts.com says they have them but when I tried to order one they emailed me and told me they were sold out.

You could run the expansion chamber straight in to the valve. You would need some parts but it would allow you to use the APP grip. I’ll post a pic of my 98 here in a minute to show what I’m talking about

Is that a special model Tippmann?

I'll try and order one one my next APP order and see what the status is. That 98 looks nice, what parts are involved in getting the regulator to screw into the valve body? Assuming it's just a converter to reduct from ASA threads down to the valve body size

It’s a Dye DFF-20 HPR. It’s a great reg but it needs to be reshimmed so it has a slightly higher range. Super easy, Docfire has a great tutorial on YouTube.

To run it straight in to the valve all you need is an Aeroflow 1/8 npt thread extender and a Shocktech mini cocker VASA. I got the top of the extender covered in hockey tape because it’s beat to shit from messing with it so much. I’ve gotten a lot better at wrenching since then but it took a beating.

That's either an extension of the business or a personal account of an owner. I reached out to APP via email about placing an order. I received a quick reply from M. Traum, who confirmed they're shipping their current stock and then linked me to that specific eBay account with my requested elbows. Quick shipping and great packaging. I would not hesitate to order from that account.
I wish I would have known about APP sooner.

What I immediately think of when this company comes up is that they manufactured the 200 round hopper that originally came with the Pro Carbine.

Thanks! I haven't played with this one yet, I really just got it because I wanted to have all the stuff that came with the marker originally, as a historical piece. One of these days I'll play some woodsball with it, see how she runs. I've currently got a Revvy on it that I bought here from ThatBobbyjoe, really makes this marker shine.
