Angel replacement battery pack ... interest thread ...

    Hello y'all,

I recently picked up an old LED and, as expected, the battery was dead ... So i got to work and found a way to make replacement battery packs.

I have a working prototype, I still need to do a bit more testing, but i will be making the final version soon.

    Here are the spec:
    - fits entirely in the battery compartment, no modification needed to the body
    - about 1200mAh (the original Angel are 1000mh) so it should hold up just as long (again, more testing needed)
    - chargeable from a USB port (the prototype is mini USB, might look into switching to USBC)
    - USB port on the front, behind the battery plug, i could move it behind the rear cover if it makes more sense ...
    - the battery indicator on the screen will not read battery levels as voltage is regulated going to the board.
    - It does require some soldering to install, but a plug can be installed for future soldering-free service

So the question is, is there any interest for me to bother making a few spares?

Pease note the is no expectation to purchase or "get a spot" not any expectation i will make any more than the 1 i need.
This is just to see if i should even consider looking into it or not ...

    Thanks all for your time,
    X

Eh, I made 3 from scratch. I had to argue with the guy at the battery plus store to give me the shrink wrap. He was stingy about it because I was gonna make it and not him. I just went with tenergy cells and made the replacement to OEM spec. Charges through the old charger and shows battery level. Idk, part of it was keeping it as original as possible. Something about a micro usb on an Angel LED makes me frown. Did I mention i made my own charger, it uses the same pin connector as the intellifeed ports on the LCD. If you already have it made then cool. But the battery might fry your board…They don’t make regulated electronics with the best of quality these days.

I might be interested. I had my LED tuned up and after I got it back, I charged it up and the battery must of got knocked around in shipping cause it was still dead.

I'll take some notes to be able to make it more than once 👍

I have it up and running, but I'm not quite confident on a drop in replacement. A kit would be good if you're comfortable with a bit of heat shrink and moving stuff around. I would need to make a few more before I call it "drop in kit".
Also, my front plug is a tad too long, so I'll have to shave about 1/8" from it so the USB plug can recess properly.
If you're ok sending your marker in, I can have it turned around in a few weeks 👍

Bringing this thread back to life. XEMON did you ever make these for sale?

I’m on the quest to bring an 03 Speed back to life and am going to follow some threads I found over on the Nation by nlrunkle and Dr.Strangelove to build a new battery and convert a charger.

I know there’s the Flory board option to run on a 9v but I’m going to give the DIY thing a go.

No, there was absolutely no interest in them ... It does work great, the angel is still running strong.
