Dreaded stuck breech rod in angel LCD

In his retirement, my dad has been restoring all of our old markers. I have also been giving this a go as its something we bond over. Recently, he was trying his hand at getting my brothers old butterknife LCD angel up and running. He told me he ran into trouble and asked me to check it out. When he brought me the marker, i was like oh boy. this will be a new challenge. Dad had snapped the breech rod off. I ordered some PBlaster so i plan to soak what i can in that. Ive used a torch to heat the outside of the marker and breech to no avail. Hoping the PBlaster will be a game changer. Any suggestions? This marker has been sitting in a gear bag for over 20 years. Are we SOL?

Not sol, just fussy. If you have access to a tig or know someone handy with welding they should be able to tac a nut on the end of the rod and get some purchase that way.

If it’s megastuck $L!mBo has had some luck with a mixture of chemicals that will eat steel away but leave the aluminum intact.

I have saved a few by using a tiny endmill to cut through the breach rods and tap it either forward or backwards enough to remove the rod. If you want me to give it a shot i can.

I never even considered that! Brilliant! I'll see if i have access to some small endmills at work, i might be able to pull this one off! Beardedworks youre the man, ill definitely send this your way if i cant handle this.

I went in the corner where the breach gap is that will allow it to rotate. Then from there you can tap it forward again. Rinse and repeat. Good luck sir.

Bearded works for the win!!! Endmill did the trick- but now my rod in the breechdoor- the only way to get that out I think will be to drill press from the other end!

This roto breech pin someone broke an easy out off in, down inside the body. Then they tried to "dig" it out with picks and screwdrivers. Was pretty much flush with body. I've extracted lots of pins with a welder. It doesn't damage the body either. I always breaks my heart when I see angels with chunks missing by the pins or gouges between roto breech and body from trying to pry them open with screwdrivers

Just noticed the jewel on the side of your body. I have one too! Wonder where they came from? Click image for larger version

Looks like an RAF rondel. Being an English made marker, it kinda makes sense.

This was my brothers marker, but if i remember correctly, WDP sold an aftermarket jewel / sticker pack and this one was in that pack!
