    10 Round Tubes/Speed Caps

...Are the Empire 10 round tubes the only option these days? I was trying to find more of the trusty PMI tubes and those super durable black speed caps, but the Empire brand seems to be the only thing popping up. If that's my only option, would you guys be willing to let me know what you think of them? I see a lot of reviews of them popping open too easily

I’ve read that they’re not great, but in the few times I’ve played stock class over the past few years I’ve had no issues with them. They’re not perfect, but they’re definitely usable. But my SC experience is very limited, as I play mainly OC when I play pump. Take my post for what you will.

They suck [Empire 10 rd tubes]. At least 1-2 get cracked every time I play. The old translucent white ones with the green or orange caps are by far the best.

Losing paint and the flex in the tube are the biggest problem. I've had empire tubes pop open multiple times. And they don't work as good with the Rainmaker Drop10™. 😉

Try here for some capless tubes. Then you can try to source NOS leash caps or run a capless harness. 👍

I generally prefer the more sturdy old school tubes, but I’ve used the Empire ones on occasion and they have worked fine for me.

I’ve replaced the caps on every Empire tube I’ve had. They pop open if you so much as look at them. I bought a bunch of better flip open caps from Titus at Slim’s a few years back. Those stay put without issue.

Can anyone remember where those old (black) speed caps/leash caps were from? They were originally covers for something else (maybe a tank thread protector for a different industry or something), right?

Does anyone here have any left they could look at? I seem to recall there being some stamping/identification marks on them. Maybe there's a manufacturer labeled on it?

They were caps for 20lb CO2 tanks.

I got a bunch of the tethered caps from Havoc a while ago not sure if he has more. There’s also a guy printing them that worked pretty good as well. The good clear tubes are getting hard to find. The ones I got are starting to get brittle with age. I do notice they crack easily and do not like taking direct shots like when I use them with my Gauntlet setup.

The empire tubes are good. But the caps on them are junk and don’t work well. I did get a few to work by heating them and using the round end to flair the tube opening out a bit so the caps held tight. But fitting a bunch of tubes is a pain in the butt. What I haven’t tried is the good tethered caps on the empire tubes. Some people use a piece of clear tape that seems to help tighten up the cap. I will figure out a work around when I run out of the old clears.

In a cap less pack like the Joyride/DBD/puller vest style packs the empire work just fine and are a lil more durable because they are much more flexible. In fact so flexible that they break paint in them when shot or you lean against something with them. I think the old tubes are just getting old and brittle with age. I have been cracking more and more lately. But they are always taking direct shots with my gauntlet setup.

I always ran the ronin gear suspender harnesses, and being a lefty would keep 6-8 tubes on the back towards my right hip and 2-3 12 grams on my right side. Luckily those never took many hits and keeping them in the back let me play front/snake/etc easier and kept them out of the dirt. Worst case I'll snag those orange caps and a few sets of those capless tubes!

I run dual gauntlets so the tubes are often taking hits with them being on my wrist. But prefer how fast it is and I slide the empty’s back in the pack so I don’t need a dump pouch and it’s easy to reload them in the staging area without having to remove the pack every time like a joyride.

The old tethered caps are great. Someone sbove mentioned Havoc having them in the past. I believe he was the one to get more made from the manufacturer. I despise the Empire caps. The tubes are ok, but the classic clear ones are much better.

I actually planned on reaching out to the manufacturer and seeing if another run could be made, then posing the question to the forum...think there'd be any interest?

I have still got some when I bought a box. The standard color for them is orange,, but they had some leftover black ones from a special order. To do another run of black was going to be in the 20,000 caps. they actually asa tread caps.

The gray Empire tubes themselves are kinda fragile, too. I've broken way more of those than the old clear ones.
