Paintball Digital Archive - Updated 12/18/24

I'm playing with my new scanner. It quickly captures any magazine / book and will put it in an easy to read and search pdf format. I want to start with the old stuff first.... So I present you with the start of MCB's Paintball Digital Archive. Enjoy!

Will move this to general population at a later date, but for now, it will be in here for a while as we add to it.

    UPDATES:
Added Front Line [May 1986, September 1986] - All I own
Added Paintball Trader [June 1992] - All I own
Added Paintball Planet [Dec 1991] - One more issue to add, May 1992, which is also the third issue. Unsure how many there actually were.
Added The Survival Game - NSG's official guide on starting your own field. This is circa 1985.
Added Paintball Planet (May 1992) The Third Edition - All I own. Would love to find out how many more there were (if any) and find the 2nd edition.
Added Smart Parts Pro Set Trading Cards - Series 1 - As far as I know, the only series made.
Added a Digital Section for long lost Owners Groups

Please note: With all the above no copyright malice is intended. All of these are 30+ years old and meant for historic purposes only. I figured that if we don't digitally preserve some of this information, I'm afraid no one will and will eventually all be lost to time.

Super cool! Those prices. “Guaranteed 3 hr of play with 10 paintballs” My how times have changed.

    (12 cent a paintball)

Could you imagine playing today with shop goggles 🤔

I appreciated the kick in the butt on this. I have been wanting to do this for so long, and a lot of these were donated for the project some time ago. Robert DeLong needs to get some huge kudos for getting me a lot of the material along with Rene Boucher. I'm learning how to use the scanner and software right now. Thing even has a foot pedal to snap the photos. The hardest part will be with the larger news print as the auto feature just won't work, but I can manually do it. Will just take time.

Want to stick to the 93 or even up to 95 print and earlier for now. Also sticking to the long out of print items. Fine line to walk with copyright and not wanting to step on any toes but at the same time wanting to preserve some history. A lot of this earlier print is great for history to find out when items came out, what some of the odder items were called, and even some oddities that never made it past prototypes and advertising.

I'm going to do Paintball Planet next (Idema's publication) and I have a single copy of a newspaper called Paintball Times - but that might need to be ironed first. It's not good. Then I have a stack of paintball news to work my way through.

Can we add to the collection?
I have a Command Post from 1990. I scanned it and have it in PDF form (non searchable).
If you need to scan it on your machine, im happy to send it to you with a return label

I’m also willing to pay to have some of the older material shipped to me and will ship it back to scan. Magazines can be found but the old news print is really hard to come by so thats why I’m starting there first.

Make sure you used a high DPI so the documents can be easily enlarged. I did a bunch of archival scanning of court transcripts and exhibit at work using some pretty good high speed printers. Still takes a long time to get properly scanned! Good luck on this project!

Absolutely! High DPI and 16 MP a photo so you can really zoom in, also saving as best quality for the pdf format. Not saying I have it down pat and perfect just yet but so far I've been happy with the outcome.

I have all the old manuals saved from MCB before the crash. Do you want them?

I'll take them for sure. I know I have them somewhere, heck had them in three places, but not sure where the back up is at this point and that will be a whole lot easier for sure!

Added Paintball Planet's collector's edition (First edition) to the lineup. It is my first go at the oversized newspapers. Took way too long to be honest as the software kept freezing due to my manual editing all the time.

                          About the paper:
Paintball Planet is Idema's paper and answer to specifically publish about the fight controversy, which is a two page spread. I only own this and the third edition - which came out in May. I doubt there were any more after the third, but can't be sure. No information that I know of or can find about it. Can't ask Keith. I'm sure this is the first time this has even been digitized and seen since the day it was published.

I also saw an add for the sale of "Wolf's Lair". Hanse would eventually turn that into "Adventure World" and from there into the EMR we visited quite often.

                          Enjoy the paper (45 megs)

Added the 1985 "The Survival Game" book. It was an operational manual in a three-ring binder. The additional dealer news were hole punched and could be added to your binder. I have not seen another. This is one of those items I never want lost to time, so here it is digitized in a searchable format. There are a lot of pages. Enjoy!

That was so long ago! My wife was so happy to get rid of a whole tote of paintball papers!
