Tool roll for freaks

[August West]

I have an old original freak set that the case was broken so I have been looking for a replacement that was compact and effective. I ordered this tool roll from Amazon for $14 and it arrived today, it is exactly what I was looking for so thought I would pass it along. I have no affiliation with this company, never heard of it actually, and no affiliation with Amazon, just well pleased with this roll. It works perfectly for barrel inserts and is much more compact than the original hard case.

One large issue....

Inserts can deform or bend in that.

Roll it up and put it in a PVC pipe with rubber plug / cap on the end. Not a real PVC plug those are expensive but a rubbery kind. But I agree my freakage is all about not getting crushed.

HAHA sure if I threw them down on the ground or left them in the road it is very likely they might be crushed or deformed, in the rubber-made tote that I carry my gear in I don't really see it as a problem. But as always YMMV and if you leave your inserts around construction sites this may not be for you.

I've had larger inserts I use for first strike deform from just existing in similar in my gear bag.....

I will revisit in a few months and let you know how they fare, I need an excuse to buy stainless anyway.

Hard drive cases also work well:

Those 3D printed cases look pretty nice!
There's also inception designs cases like this

I have that one from inception, nice little case.

I got the printed one from PB DNA the thing is real nice. But the Aperture one is a bit cheaper and just as functional. I would have got that if it was available at the time. $20 seems like a no brainer. Oh I see the JoLo is on sale to.

I use a portable cigar case. This one's a little long for them. I'm sure I could have found one that fits better.

Is it pretty obvious when a freak bore is damaged? Like do you just start breaking paint left and right? This thread had me double thinking what Ive put them through.

I've only seen them dented or absolutely crushed beyond use. The dents can make it difficult to get in/out of the barrel and lead to barrel breaks occurring at a higher rate.
