    Old CO2 Tanks

What do you all do with them? I have a pile of 20 oz and smaller tanks that are out of date, cheapest option is hydrotester.com and they're $25/tank plus whatever shipping is. Brand new tanks are also $25, but with free shipping.

It feels stupid to throw them out, but what can be done with them otherwise? It's so wasteful to chuck em, but it isn't financially worth it to save them either.

We still use them. CO2 for us is more accessible than compressed air.

That's potentially dangerous, and also absolutely not legal to do.

I don't think it is something to fight about here, but a lot of people perform their own visual inspection and continue to use tanks. Some tanks like under 2 inch are technically excempt anyways so this is a no brainer if you want to follow the letter of the regulations. You can rent a bulk CO2 tank for very cheap.

People have turned them into chimes and into cups and stuff as well.

They make great targets at chronograph stations

"not legal"... LOL. Okay sure. Let's come back to reality here. And then I won't tell you the dates on some of our tanks then. Ha!

Out here in mountains, it's all "reclaimed" CO2 tanks, beat and repurposed markers and bad paint. Unfortunately, we have to make do with what we have to keep the sport going since paintball out here is mostly dead. That's the reality we deal with here. Legal, Smegal.

Well, I for one would be happy to send a bunch of tanks out to the mountains as part of our overall economic relief.

Keep using them. Fill them on your own and still use them as long as they have a proper burst disc and aren't over filled or leaking.

BMC Fabrication had the best use for old tanks but it is very labor intensive

You can call it a cup or trophy

That’d be an absolute perfect trophy for a Woodsball tourney series. Mount it to a nice wooden base, add team names to the base each year!

My local scrap yard won't take them unless I cut them in half. So I just remove the brass reg for scrap and toss the rest.

I cut the bottoms off for parts trays and scrap the rest

Drill a hole in them a just toss in the trash, they pretty much useless, I thought about cutting a slot in one and drill a big hole in the bottom and make one a piggy bank

I have several old CO2 tanks, and they are all going to recycling once I pull the valves out of them (yes... I already made sure they were super empty). I am also sending my old Aluminum HPA tank to recycling. I hate to see them go, but they're really old and the risk far outweighs the reward.

I may make beer mugs from the 12 oz bottles, though...

The only two I am keeping are the 7 oz and 3.5 oz bottes as they are <2" OD, and < 2' long. But I did learn that bust disks get weak over time. That was a interesting few seconds.

Crap... now my brain is off and running with this...

Uses of old Paintball Bottles (in addition to the parts trays and piggie bank ideas above):
                    • Table Lamps.
                    • Paintball trophies.
                    • Beer mugs
                    • Ash Trays
                    • Boat anchors (fill with lead or concrete first)
                    • Marker display mounts
                    • Bird feeders/houses
                    I'm sure there is more...

They also make fun targets for the bigger bangy guns.
