Playing the game is a lot of fun, but I have always been most fascinated with the markers themselves.

Whenever I get a new (or new to me) marker I go through the same process.

    Step 1: open box
Step 2: disassemble marker to see how it works.
    Step 3: Reassemble
    Step 4: test and fiddle
Step 5: Use it on a field (optional).

I've always wanted to design, build, and market my own markers.
    Mech-semi (In-Line, blow-back)
    Nelson Pump (open and stock)

Simple, rugged, reliable, affordable, and moddable. Kind of Markers for Makers.

Unfortunately, I lack the large fortune required to make a small fortune in Paintball.

I can't wait for my kids to start playing. Both help me test paintguns outside already. But my older boy is still just a tad young. But to start them off I've got BE Stingrays, masks, 2x100rd tube pouches, 9oz co2 bottles, and grav feed hoppers. Start them simple. Don't underestimate the power of plastic BE stuff... er, at least it's ability to get you hooked on the sport, lol.

I really wanna try my hand at running a field. But pb around here is pretty much dead. Gotta go at least an hour to an actual field, and I'm not aware of any (regular) outlaw fields closer than that. But the money, time, effort would likely not pay off. At least I don't think it would. Makes me sad.

I gotta figure out what's wrong with my 12g changer. I can throw a HPA bottle on my PMI Trracer and it'll shoot 250 FPS. I put my 12g changer on it and it shoots 150 FPS. Dunno what's wrong. Pierce pin not piercing enough?

I'm finding myself drifting more from gun whoring to masks... Just need a chrome lens to complete a blue Proshield I'm building.

Blow into the ASA end of the changer with no cartridge in it , there should be little/no resistance to the airflow. If there is a pin valve on the asa end of your changer, it may not be opening enough and starving flow.

My maverick acted the same way and it was the pin valve in my 12g changer that was the culprit.

I leave my gun in my home office and switch out different loader, tank and barrel combinations to see which I like the most. I can’t decide.

I do this every time I work from home. Or after my wife goes to bed. Or when the kid is napping. Or when I’m supposed to be vacuuming.

Then at the field I just grab whatever and don’t notice any difference.

I do this sometimes. But when I try something I think I'd like it usually doesn't work well for me on the field & I revert back to my usual.

Can I find time to get out and play this weekend? Or will it have to wait... and it's so damn hot out now.

      I'm getting old.

Are paintball players better drivers with their enhanced situational awareness?🤔

I want to go play at full speed some time. Just be a 10.5 bps ramping, 8 pod carrying, paint dumping machine. But I always get to the field and enjoy putting myself at some sort of disadvantage.

I’ll use my ego, but with a sport shot hopper. I almost always use a pump. It’s fun to use a spyder. I never get around to Rambo mode.

More stuff I've learned from paintball:
            • Team Deathmatch is almost as boring in paintball as it is in computer games. There, I said it.
            • Magfed markers should be electros, dammit. Because triple burst is fun.
            • Why is there no commercially produced magazine speedloader where you just jam the mag into the thing and it goes brrrr and then the mag is full and wound?
            • Related: why didn't podrockets become standard equipment?
            • If you're going to play that all hits count even if they don't break, you might as well switch your club to airsoft.

I like the idea of playing paintball... but not always playing paintball.

I can't tell if I'm just terrible at paintball or if everyone on here is BS'ing about one-shotting people with pumps and tagging multiple players out every game.

I really need to get one of those things you pour your paint into and fill pods with, but they take up too much room in a gear bag.

Fields really need professional staff.. I am tired of hearing loud mouthed refs blathering on about how wasted they were/are and not actually reffing the game. Hang out with your buddies after work, not during.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I absolutely recommend you get a paintball caddy. There's basically no dicking around filling your pods after that, it's just done in no time. You could probably drill a hole and clip one to your bag instead of putting it inside. One like this takes up a bit less room since the pour spout is on top instead of sticking out the side.

I burn myself out on looking for certain parts across here/Facebook forums/ebay to the point where I don't care about the project I am thinking up anymore. Why am I like this? Then the process repeats. I'll end up with some of the parts then realize I wasted money and sell it all.

Can the rec players that act like they've been on the tournament field actually show up on the tournament field? I haven't seen them there yet...

Haven't played in a few years and am getting the itch again, here's the vomit
                  1. I stopped because I was so fed up dealing with the certain tropes that I couldn't enjoy myself. People taking their masks off in game (or improperly wearing them and having their masks fall off), gear bags getting shot up in staging areas, negligent discharges, people with electros beating up on kids, fields that only allow formats that keep people shooting (unlimited respawn 20 minute rounds). I don't want to make my day about being a human shield for someone's face or avenging a 10 year old or keeping my face protected in the staging area.
                  2. I want to learn how to machine metal and don't know where to start. I've got ideas for both the phantom and PGP that a 3D printer can't solve beyond prototype phase. I've also designed a bunch of vaporware that I want to finish.
                  3. I want to get into magfed but the vibe that the guns put out is offputting compared to my relatively friendly looking Phantom. I don't have many options to play where I'm at.
                  4. I've got other hobbies to balance plus work and family. The above thoughts might not amount to anything.

You definitely fit the mold here! I know there are several old time ballers who haven't played in a while but still tinker or chat it up. Life can be tricky to balance, especially with a family. Do you have other fields within a reasonable distance that practice better safety? Sounds like a nightmare. Been in those situations as well.

Got a brand new Ninja 45/45k bottle in the mail today. Now I need to use it so I know if I need one of those Nummech dropbacks or not. I’m thinking I will, but the smaller & lighter bottle was more my goal than anything else. I’ll also need a mini drop (to turn backwards) for my sniper.

ChoSanJuan 3D printed a body for my Emek. I need to dig out my rat tail files so I can clean up the PAL hole a bit. Then I’ll get a PAL loader.

                    So. On. Point!

                    Here's some more brain vomit:

Let the Pro Players organize into a Player Association (aka union), so they can demand a certain standard at professional events. Let those standards become the norm.

If it's worked for the NFL, Soccer, Hockey, even little organizations like THE OLYMPICS, causing trickle down of high facility and safety standards to local fields and arenas, then it could work for paintball too.

Paintball needs to adapt (2021 NXL controversy: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...7&id=634195200 019710 , as a recent example of poor professional standards). The question remains, will the "testosterone fueled demographic" help it transition and survive, or make mistakes of Titanic proportions?

I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

FYI, Fornite, an online shooter game similar to paintball, is pushing back against Google and Apple! You can't tell me there aren't a WHOLE LOT OF DIVERSE PEOPLE that want to play shooter games. Paintball only needs to grab some small fraction of this success to flourish.
