I buy stuff that I find interesting... could be the challenge of repairing it that interests me, or maybe a project that I can envision.
Lately I've been focusing on owning stuff that lets me play vs. having to tinker with to be able to use. I still have a few to play around with, they're just not part of my usual rotation.
I just want my gear to be as simple and as reliable as possible. I haven't taken the bolt out of my Emek in the three years since I've had it, and only had to lube the switch once. I also love the pal loader, since it means I don't have to deal with batteries for an electric loader to feed it. My sniper I built to be very reliable, but I didn't like how fussy the macroline was, so I got the nummech frame and now it's rock solid as well. Having cool, unique markers may be fun, but I just want to know that the next time I go to play, I won't have to deal with any issues.
