    Magfed sidearm choice

I am planning on shooting bolt action for the foreseeable future but like the idea of a sidearm for big games. That being said my trusty T8s are becoming less and less reliable.

Question is, if yall were going to purchase a new pistol, would you go fsc or tipx or something else?

Absolutely the TiPX, assuming you can tolerate the bulk of zetamags.

I have been shooting T8s. Can't be much bulkier than those

I don't think there is a good 68cal pistol currently on the market.

And honestly if it's just a side piece I think you will be better off using a 50cal pistol anyway. More compact

          Opinions:

I can say definitively, the .50 cal, Umarex revolver and you're done. It works with every brand of paint, I've shot 1000+ rounds in the backyard, no breaks, no hassle. It just works. And despite being bulky its very light. I don't even own one but my brother owns two and they're great shooters.

For the last 4-5 years I've run the FSC as my side arm. Its still too big so I planted it on my chest. If .68's your fancy, the FSC is the best you're going to get. (imo)

I just recently installed a high pressure valve on a FS Roscoe. Deleted a ton of weight going yeet canon with it, Haven't fielded it yet, but the backyard testing tells me its ready.

          T8.1/T9.1's are too big.

TPX is too big, too ugly.

AGD sydarm stays on the wall.

I used to rock 2x of these. Kinda wish I still had them, but was more fun in practice than in play. So, agreed!

Dig it man, that’s legit. Yes, lots of fun in the back yard still.

That's interesting- from what I've heard those revolvers have a difficult time with a lot of .50 paint, breaking it in the barrel during the cylinder jump.

That's certainly been my experience and frustration trying to use my Sellswords Kaos.

What brand(s) of paint have you been using?

Also, how did your brother resolve the velocity issues?

The FSC is probably the best option as a .68 sidearm. The most compact option which shoots .68 and First Strike.
I use a T8.0 and carry just the 1 mag or 1 extra. I really like it, but have never hit anyone with it as my "backup" lol. Great at stopping people though so you have a moment to get your rifle back to ready.

However if you don't practice with a pistol, don't bother bringing it. I've found you can very quickly shoot through the pistol mag and be left fumbling. They are great though for wrapping corners in CqB.

Agreed, it does take practice and if you aren't operating it right, turns into a hassle. I've had several sidearm kills and its so incredibly gratifying.

I built a Spydarm in the early 2000s and refreshed it last year. I've run it at a few games and it's fun! Not a fan of the bulk, but it's great for CQB. I just got a Kingman Chaser and used it at MMG a few weeks ago. A little more compact and balanced better. Only drawback is getting new mags and the fact that it's 11mm/43cal. (paint easy to get, it's just that it's an odd caliber and is getting pricy)

Dude that’s badass. What did you use to build the spydarm, just a victor? I have a bunch of extras lying around I might try to do this.

Really!? Well maybe I need to revise my glowing recommendation. We have shot at least 5-6 brands of paint through his two revolvers. I'll ask him which types. At stock the velocity is plenty for close quarters imo, so he hasn't messed with it. That's crazy though -- I have read other people having issues too but thats not uncommon for PB guns either. Our experience with them has been pretty flawless.

The FS Roscoe will not shoot anything other than FS shaped and spherical projectiles. Full stop will shred anything else you put in it.

Anything printed has questionable tolerances to the point that I don't even bother anymore. I suspect thats the issue with your Kaos, imo.

I had been chalking it up to the kinds of .50 paint out there. A lot of it seems intended for the super low-impact .50 spring guns, and even when I tested it by pre-loading it into my Kaos' barrel (soas to remove the possibility that poor tolerances and the cylinder jump was causing the breaks) I was still seeing tons of barrel breaks with it.

Since its your money, lets spend it. Custom Squall with lever changer and interchangeable feeds.... a TipX mag adapter, spring feed, and a cram&jam.

Whatever you get, I'd recommend getting something that has a kydex/plastic holster that locks the gun in. I've never seen a fabric holster that holds the gun in properly.

So don't use paintball cubes and pyramids and you're golden? I'm confused. I've never been to a field that sells anything outside of spheres and FSR

I think what he means is that the Roscoe shoots .50 First Strike rounds and the durable .50 roundball stuff FS puts out, but that other brands of .50 paint don't usually survive being shot by it.

Correct. Any standard .50 cal paint turns to confetti with/without high pressure velocity upgrade.
