One Gun That Everybody Has Ownded?

Ok, maybe not everybody, but most MCB members.... (My apologies if this is one of those frequently asked questions.)

I was looking in the collectors corner and had another random thought. What is the gun that most of us have owned at one point or another. Do you guys think its a Tippmann, a Spyder, or maybe even a Mag?

I may be an outlier... I have never owned any type of AutoCocker. (I don't count Blazers in that grouping.) Nor have I ever owned a Tippman. But, I do have a handful of mags. I even have a Spyder or two. (Bought either for the grip frame or got it with some thing else.)

"I have never owned any type of AutoCocker."

Gasp!!!!!!!! I think that's a felony in most states..... or at least it should be. But if I had to guess I imagine most of us have owned some type of Spyder at some point even if it was just passing through in a bulk lot or purchased just to steal the grips off of it

I’d say a Tippmann in line blow back of sorts and if had to narrow that down obviously a 98c.

I started myself with the then NEW Tippmann Pro/Carbine (which I still have and love). Although i did also own a 98c and many A5s over the years but only the carbine remains.

Additionally don’t feel so bad I too have never owned a Autococker of any kind. In fact the only stacked tube style markers I have owned are my present PGP2K and the two Azodins. I simply prefer single tube guns.
AGD 68 Automag, AGD ULE 68 Automag, Azodin KPII, Tippmann SL68II, Umarex TR50.

Statistically, I'd say a Model 98 is probably the safest bet. They're dirt cheap, a lot of people started out with them, and they still hold up as a reliable backup.

I have technically never owned a Spyder. I have a Promaster SI, an Inferno, and a couple Hammers in the closet, but no Kingman-made STBB. That being the case, if un2xs has never owned a Tippmann then we'll never find any common ground. There are just too many guns to whore/hoard 😆

Tippman (in particular the 98) would be my guess; also 2nd guess for a lot of us would be PGP. Only reason I have "owned" a Tippman 98 is because when I was part owner of a field that was most of our rental fleet was otherwise I've never personally owned a Tippman marker.

              I have never owned:
              • Spyder or Spyder Clone ( Have owned an F1 Illustrator and Line SI Pro-master but they pre-dated Spyders)
              • Autococker (plenty of Sniper I and II but never owned an actual Autococker beyond buying one to immediately rip off the pneumatics. I'm a pump player primarily and was on the Automag side of the Mag vs. Cocker debate
              • Brass Eagle markers of any kind
              • NSG Splatmaster or Rapide

Surprised Phantom hasn’t been mentioned. But generally a Spyder/Spyder clone and a 98c are going to be the most common.

I started with a Spyder, by the time the 98 came out a few years later I had already moved on to Autocockers so I never had one.

I bought my first 98 last year I think. Jumped from a Spyder Clone to an A5, then to cockers.

I think it's worth considering when people started playing. i.e. For those that started in [year], what gun would everyone own? Noting that it wouldn't necessarily be the gun they started with.

I've been on this forum for a hot minute and, I've never owned an Automag, an Autococker, or a phantom. At some points, I was interested in the Automag, and even the Autococker. I first posted on this forum when I had a question as to why some Autocockers (both the barrel signature as well, as the sound of the mechanism cycling) were so quiet when compared to others. I was interested in stealth, pure and simple. As for the Automag, I was interested in a Warp Right Tac one because I had gotten tired of Hoppers on top and, I wanted the ability to mount a sight.

But, as to what I really owned: I started in '89 with the Line SI Bushmaster Deluxe because it was the first gun with all of the mods of the time designed in, at a price point I could afford (lightly used @ $250). A few years later, I bought the Spyder because it was the first Semi-Auto that could be found at the price point I could afford ($250). This is where I started to modify my paintball guns (beyond the bolt-on things).

I took a brief detour a few years later, when the flatline barrel came out, so I bought a 98 to run it, along with a Qloader, and an E-Bolt (for it's lower pressure). I ran that until I saw that while it gave me range but, the accuracy wasn't improved. With this gun, I started to concede that I would have to change my style of play ('sniping') and be more of an assaulter. So, when the Ion came out (first new electro at $250), I picked one up and immediately set out to optimizing it for a larger volume of fire (at extended range via the new Apex), with a DIY single finger trigger (and frame), and a with the hopper off the top (via the Warp Feed).

Then came First Strike rounds. Everything after this point is all about improving my experience with First Strike rounds. I go through (and heavily mod) a T9, and a T9.1 before ultimately settling on the FN303.

You kinda have owned an Automag if you have FN303. Or at least you have owned the Automag's not-always-acknowledged offspring.

In my armory past and present, common guns include mags, cockers, Phantom, 98C, A5, Stingray, PGP, and an Emek.

I think for gun hoarding mental cases like us though, a more fascinating topic to me is "guns we have never owned or used". For me, it's Spyders, VM-68, any Tippmanns prior to Model 98, or any speedball electro.

Almost certainly a Tippmann. From the .68 special and the model 98 really got most generations of paintball players at some point in their paintball career. I have never owned a Kingman product, which seems almost rare for someone of my vintage.

Personally, I have owned: Shockers, Angels, Automags, Autocockers, Bushmasters, Vikings, Cyborgs, Impluses, Tigersharks, a Stingray, a Talon, Blades, Piranhas, many different Tippmanns, a Rainmaker, a Blazer, a PGP, and probably a bunch more guns I don't remember right now.

It depends on when you got into it. If you were playing in the mid 80s it was PGP or Spatmaster. My first gun was the Trracer which went on to eventually sell like 150,000 units so probably those went to my generation. Since I’ve always disliked semis I’ve never owned any Spyder or Tippmann. I do have a cockerpumper but only since a few years ago.

It has to be Phantom, no? This is like the forum for talking about pump. I still have the first paintball gun I ever owned, my beloved Phantom. Conversely, I have never owned any type of Kingman or Tippmann.
