Hammer 7. Not really disappointed in the gun. Disappointed to find out that magfed pump wasn’t as fun as i had envisioned. I think it would be fun to play some all magfed/pump games but i am nowhere near good enough to be the lone user when everyone else is shooting mech semis up to high end electros. Maybe if i had started years ago when i played a lot but i don’t play enough these days to hone my skills at a new play style.

PE Elbow pads and knee pads. Super bulky, uncomfortable, the thumb loops on the elbow pads suck and flop around if you don't use them. Greatly prefer my MTB elbow and knee pads to paintball-specific ones.

What comes to mind is the Alien Morph Valve. Despite rebuilding it and trying different pressures I could never get it to shoot consistently. I either had a lemon or maybe weighting the delrin hammer would have helped.

Hands down the Crap4 DMR. Body cut for the bolt handle had such bad tolerances that the thing would barely cycle. All the mags were garbage, FSR or regular paint. Mag fit into the magwell was terrible, all sorts of wobble. Couldn't get anything to reliably feed more than 3-4 rounds before a jam. The whole gun was designed and built like it was an afterthought.

My biggest paintball disappointments are not products though, they are people. Small businesses that let orders fall through the cracks and never follow up. Custom shops that never get back to you on work, let timelines double and triple with no communication, set and manage expectations terribly. Or my favorite, small innovative shops that just ignore you when you have a product issue, and flat out refuse to return calls, emails, and facebook messages after taking a defective product back for "warranty work".

            Mag fed;

I'm a pump player and a paint snob. Downgrading to a rental platform and an inferior feed system to shoot mid level hard paint? No thanks. I don't need something that "looks real". Paintball markers are real, and they aren't firearms.

Playing with FSRs is a disappointment to. Not a game changer for me. I've spent 20 years refining my rec level round ball skills. I'll support a guy shooting FSRs, but that platform isn't for me.

I hated the idea of magfed for a long time. Milsim stuff just doesn't interest me much. And up until last year, I resisted it. But I played a small local magfed only game and it completely changed things for me.

You can say the same things about stock class: inferior guns, frequent annoyance of reloading, paint quality affecting accuracy, expense of 12g's, etc. But if you play a game where EVERYBODY is playing stock class, it's a blast. Magfed really reminds me of semi-auto stock class. I really like the extreme paint limitation, without actually being a limited paint style of play. Sure, I can carry half a case out there if I want to, but it's going to weigh me down, and every 20 shots I gotta reload. Completely changed the game for me. Added a whole new element of strategy and finesse I could only get if I played stock.

And Tippmanns don't bother me. My automags are my favorite, but I just love Tippmanns. So I'm quite happy with my Vortex-converter A5.

I have played 3 big mag fed only events. It may be my local culture but the safety violations were embarrassing. Bad attitudes and big egos.

When I complain about paint it is because every magazine I have used will destroy quality paint. My stock class guns shoot Hellfire and Redemption and Ultra Evil just fine. Hammer mags, Dye mags, box mags, ADN mags all turn that grade of paint into soup.

Mix that with a classic rental platform like a Tippmann or Spyder.....Meh.

I totally get what you're saying even though, I love FSRs. A short story: I started paintball in 89. I was very used to regular paintball and used to moving up and working angles. I was an early adopter of FSRs (2009). When I played my first half-day (with a T9), I played very cautiously, and I got a ton of eliminations. On the second day, for the first half of the day I got my ass handed to me. At the lunch break, I realized what had gone wrong: I had gotten comfortable, and had resorted back into my aggressive, move up and angle sort of play, thereby removing the accuracy and flat trajectory of the FSRs.

Most recently the BK Ctrl loader.

Got one of the earlier ones that had known top shell issues. The stock lid was incredibly tight/hard to open. Got an NTR speedfeed to try and address but it was the opposite, fit very loosely and would not stay locked down. You could smack the side and it would pop open completely.

To add insult to injury they started to sell the replacement top shell as an "upgrade"

Sold off Pretty quickly and never even bothered to take it to the field.

Disappointed more so in how the issue was addressed and not in the loader itself.

I fell victim to this as well. Was part of the original pre-order/buy/crowdfund and waited quite a while for it to arrive. I put their new fancy speed feed on it and it would pop open if I looked at wrong. I delt with it by using a Ginger Designs Omni loader cover which usually helped keep it shut. Recently, I bought a new all black shell and haven't had a single issue. Ya gotta love when they let the paying customer do the R&D for them.

I bought quite a few Spyders. The Fenix (gen1) that I got is terrible. Cleaned and tinkered with it just to get it shooting normally and it just can't.

My Spire. I LOVE my BK speed feed. I think it's the best in the market. Period.

But the actual loader is just kinda ok. It feeds well and consistent. I don't really have any complaints about it per se. But it really doesn't do anything that my Revy doesn't. Just seems like a lot of bells, whistles, and hype for something that is only marginally better than what we were using in the 90s. I'd much rather have a quick-strip Revy with a good speed feed. Much more reasonable.

My ID pump kit. Wanted one for a long time, finally made the plunge and bought one. Everything looked great, very well designed and love it right up until pumped it a few times. The handle just killed it for me. Dug into my finger after only a few shots, and would have sucked to use for an entire day. I’ve really liked all the other ID parts I’ve bought, but this one was just disappointing.

Dye Dam with box loader. I have a hammer 7 that I like playing with so I thought I would see what the "peak" was back in the day so I got a used dam.Got about 20x 20rd mags and a box mag for it, made a nice CF raincover for the tip of the barrel but it was just too long. I was always hitting it off bunkers or something and it just annoyed me. Yes I could have gotten a shorter barrel but then the proportions of the marker were off and at the end of the day it just was not for me.
Classic mag, I wanted to love that gun I had to replace all the seals and I did eventually get it working kinda I played with it for 1 game the reg pistion seal blew and I just walked off the field put it away and sold it when I got home.

looking back on it any gun that I got really excited about and built a load out around has let me down. I have always had better luck buying from the spec sheet.

Really let me down there isn't a ton, but the first that come to mind is the tacamo ... Unreliable, heavy and poor finish.

A lot didn't last because they were not soo spectacular that I had to keep them, just good, run off the mill shooter.

There is a few wiered/odd gun I got to try and I'm not impressed , I'll put the goblin in there, but I never expected much to begin with ...

I have a few entries over the years:
The Qloader. I tried many things to get this loading system working over two paintball guns (a M98, and later an Ion). The setups would just blend paint at the field. Even in one case, I made this video, the night before a game and it still blended at the field. I came to the conclusion that with my style of play (sneaking, stalking, etc) spring feed systems compress the balls too much for me to use. Eventually, the Warp Feed got my Ion working how I wanted it.

The JT Status mask. I really loved the idea of a Quick Change Lens but, my god, what a shitty mask. It fogged up so bad.

The Tiberius Arms T9 and T9.1. They were way too finicky with FSRs. With just a slight wiggle of the magazine, the bolt would clip a round. They weren't regulated properly for the increased resistance of the Tiberius / LAPCO .683 rifled barrel, so velocity consistency would drop to a standard deviation of +/-10FPS (based on 20shot samples). The LAPCO/Tiberius .683 rifled barrel would foul itself after around 80shots and you'd get a 'squib'. Once I got around all those issues, I had a lot of fun with the T9.1 but, along came my FN303.
