    The most underrated barrel!!!

i’m thinking the criteria for the most underrated barrel in paintball is good quality, good finish, made in lots of different threads, and a good price!

my vote ......the J&J ceramic !!

    any other contenders?

Imo big shots are highly regarded though.

Fair, may have missed the mark on underrated.

CP Barrels are underrated in my opinion. I've always enjoyed them.

Dye Xcel Barrels are also super underrated!

J&J and Cp are good canditates, but my vote goes to the 32 degrees whisper barrel. I swear that made my a5 shoot lasers. I kept that barrel over the years, and gave my cousin a phenom with that barrel for his grad present. He says it still shoots lasers.

The only downside is cleaning the ports when a break occurs.

I like any of the old style barrels really. Lapco, Dye, J&J, anything twist lock. I was especially impressed with the finish on older dye barrels.

Barrels today are just boring looking. No cool muzzle designs or anything!

I always loved my Powerlyte Scepter kit..... I'm so sad I sold it way back when.

I had one of these kits a long time ago. Was great! I think the Empire Revolver was the same kit.

I never heard of the revolver... must have came out back on my hiatus from the game. the way the inserts were put in between the barrel pieces put a lot of people off, but it came with a better case than the freak, had stronger inserts than the freak and i thought was better looking than the freak.

There were at least 3 versions of the scepter prior to the empire version and I don't think any parts are interchangeable between different versions. Their speedline barrels were also fairly nice.

J&J ceramics are great. Used one on my carbine for many years but sadly don’t know where it ended up when I decided to run a shorter barrel on it many years ago.

I would also vote the Tippmann flatlines. Yeah they are pretty ruff on paint. But man That long flat shot mixed in with a rt trigger made for a lot of fun (until you got a barrel break).

I know theoretically paintball barrels make little difference in accuracy. But the Palmers custom barrel I had Made for my SL68II is just perfect. Seems some days I just can’t miss with that thing. And being just a solid brass tube with zero porting It’s hilariously loud. Hands down my favourite barrel (May one day order another in cocker threads just because).

i'm serious thinking about running my flatline 98 for the first round at Ultimate big game! I have a 300 Round camo viewloader tri-pod revvy to go with it. Nicknamed the whole setup: "Behemoth" .... we shall see how underrated it is!

If the paint is not too brittle and you get it down range that should be a lot of fun.

I think one day I’m destined to pick up another A5 just to build as a flat line platform again. I still have a bunch of A5 parts and such from past builds including a flat line.

I think another key thing we should really take into consideration is bore sizes available. Modern paint is pure kryptonite to a lot of oldschool goodness.

For sure! When did bore sizes first become a thing? Was it the one piece glued All American barrels (grey, silver, black backs)?

I agree with alot of what was already said, J&J ceramics are still in my rotation as are several old DYE stainless broomstick but the most impressive barrel I have ever experienced and is certainly underrated is a Dac Tulip on a VM68. It took the VM from being borderline bad to the most accurate marker I'm the stable. I am always on the lookout for one but they only come up for sale once in a blue moon.

Back when I played with Tippmanns, 98s and A5s...I tried the Armson rifled, J&J ceramic, Bigshot, Stiffi and a PPS brass. Hands down best performance for the price was the J&J Ceramic! I used the brass a lot but for the price difference, it wasn't worth it.

Javelins. I also like my Equation Bizerk systems. There aren't a lot of twistlock barrel kits with inserts, but mine has both cocker and twistlock backs. The inserts are steel, not aluminum.

The AKA Jav is the exact same as the factory CCI barrel in my mind. Mine seemed to be a absolute tack driver, wasn't terribly loud for it's lack of porting and balanced anything it was screwed into well. Good call.

J&j, you can even get full kits. But most under rated is their single piece barrel

With all that porting it has to be quiet.
