If Tippmann made....a 98 Custom MINI ?

Honestly the Flex valve, especially the TiPX-sized flex valve, would be a terrible choice for an entry-level cheap gun. Those things are very rough on paint, especially compared to a modern spool valve.
I feel like Tippmann actually has all the ingredients for something to rival the Emek in their Raider gun if they would ditch the stupid integral loader experiment.

The size of the valves in the tippmann 98 are that size because they work well. It’s not like tippmann didn’t know about light weight back then, but a blowback needs certain things.
a next generation CVX valve tippmann, center feed with wire detent or cocker / angel spring loaded ball detent that doesn’t wear out super fast, and with the trigger assembly shifted forward about an inch for more compact handling would be a winner in my book.

One idea I've had for a while is to make a front sprung model98 and then cut off all the unneeded body. To do it properly I'd have to fab up a steel bolt though. So the idea is you take the spring out from behind the rear hammer, and instead use a spring between the bolt and the valve around the power tube. Might have to be a tapered spring so it can collapse into itself. Use a heavier bolt so you can remove an equal amount of mass from the hammer (the gun considers the bolt/linkage/hammer to be all one mass, so it doesn't matter which parts are the heavy one). In fact all you need of the hammer is the part with the o-ring that fits into the rear of the power tube, that does all the recock force. Of course you need to leave enough for the sear to catch, unless you move the sear catch as well. It may also need a stronger bolt to hammer linkage system, possibly two steel flat bars attached to the bolt and hammer by screws. Of course that's just more mass to subtract from the rear hammer.
Now this kind of layout has been done in a paintball gun before, in the oddest of guns actually. The Eagle 68 pistol of all things. Kind of clever design, horrible construction.

I've wondered why this hasn't been done before. You probably wouldn't need a steel bolt. I would try just gluing a steel washer to the rear of the bolt. Cheap and simple. Maybe get some real thin brass tubing or something to cover the power tube with. That might not be a bad idea, if it doesn't interfere with the bolt.
This would be an excellent mod for something like the TMC. I hate all of that extra tube hanging off the back. Makes running a 26ci WAAY too long. Which is sad, because it's double the shots of a 13ci for cheap, and the length is nice on my other flush ASA markers.

Would have that classic 98 custom foregrip ( admit it, you love this foregrip!)
The return of those shark gills!
Would you buy it!?

They don’t see any business reason to do any more than they absolutely have to to simply keep the brand alive.
I’d like to see a product like that, but I don’t see any reason why they would make one, given their treatment of the brand since it’s acquisition.

The weight balance of a tippmann with the ergonomics of an invert mini! Can't wait!

I would rather see a low pressure pro carb I think it’s a better platform. Make it all metal with an Sl68II style grip and ASA. Make the bolt system bore drop with functional detent and freak bore barrel. Or a .681 one piece simple design barrel with some moderate porting. Oh a decent clamping feed neck would be nice.

So people want a much smaller flex valve marker that is center feed, pretty much any automag but if you want really small, minimag

Core just let John Dresser go.... You know the guy who revived the JT brand from Walmart crap to high end masks again.... Yeah I wouldn't bet on anyone at core doing anything smart

Yeah, Kore is an equity firm. As such, they’re not gonna do any more than they have to, as long as the money keeps coming. That’s all that matters to them.
Not to be a downer, but it is what it is.
