    Sweet Walzmas in July

Today was honey extraction day at my house which means it’s time to have a mid year Walzmas giveaway.

How much wax will I end up with after extracting.

Everyone can take one guess. The closest without going over will receive a care package of honey.

I will leave this open until I finish cleaning and rendering the wax into a block.

Are we guessing weight or volume?

You get about 2oz per frame right?
that would make about 12/12.5lb for what you have in the picture ... So I'll say 12.5lb 😅

Do you buy hives or collect them from the wild?
Always wanted to have a few hives at home (thinking about 2 super ...)

I’ve never paid attention to how much wax I get per frame. I originally bought packages to get started. Now I make splits off of my current colonies so I haven’t had to buy bees in a few years. I’ve tried to catch swarms but haven’t had any luck with anything other than swarms from my own colonies.

Ill say $1 Bob... lol, in all seriousness, wasn't this a trick question last year? Or was that because you specifically asked what the weight was?

Ill say 11.75 pounds or 188 ounces because I love your product and want to win.

10 pounds. An uneducated guess based off of others that seem to know what they are talking about.
Much like sailing and building a gyrocopter, beekeeping is a very interesting thing that I will never get around to doing.
            Pretty cool!

I didn’t forget about this. I haven’t had a chance to render the wax until today. I put the first load in the solar melter this morning.

I’ll announce the winner Monday morning so you still have a few days to place a guess.
