    MCB Community markers

I have a few markers that I consider "community" markers. They have evolved in their path to favored status through a trail of MCB member ownership, MCB threads and parts, or both.

Last Sunday I had one finally fall into place, coming together over several years. I was headed out to play stick/one-ball with our local group and decided to try an old barrel on a phantom that I have been trying to make into something I would play with for about a year.

I played with one of the original unibody phantoms when they were new and never really enjoyed playing with them. My son won a whole phantom kit at a Viper scenario. We both tried to like it, but it wasn't a fit for either of us. I had added a CCI regulator (from AnarchicArctic iirc) to keep it consistent in the Houston weather. In the 3d printing forum we have lots of printed parts like Rainmaker's pump and stuff, so I made some grips and an under cocking kit. They were comfortable, but didn't fix barrels and rollouts. In the CCI forum I saw the discussion on ASP roundhead bodies, including the fact that there were a few available at the time. I got one of those. It had lots of goodies on it, but still I wasn't all that interested in it.

As I was packing up the phantom to test it out, I realized that the Doc's tanto barrel that I had sitting around might fit the phantom better than my cocker-style pumps. The length was very nice on the phantom. I had bought some Ty McNeer brass inserts for it and took those along. Using a 0.678 insert, I had a great day. I still aim high due to the short barrel sometimes, but I can adjust to that. It was surprisingly quiet also.

Long story, longer build, but I really enjoy the ones that finally come together from all around the forum.

    You got one?

It started life as a "basic" VSA phantom I bought from a member...then I added a RTR frame I got from AnarcticArtic, a Doc's tip, ASP Roundhead body, Xemons double sided feed. ICD side saddle lever, and it had Rainmaker's Pump Kit (before this pic) as well as a pump shim...from....I can't remember! Sorry!!

It was a really fun shooter.

The "Village Bicycle" Houndsphoon has made its way to at least 4 members I know of, but I think its really more like 10-12. Does that count?

This was the first marker that came to mind when I saw the thread title.

      I've got two.

First - my Hurricane. Bought a basket case from the Members B/S/T that was missing parts two/three years ago, turned it into this with some help from MAr and a few random box lots of parts bought from MCB over the years.

      โ€‹

Second - my Micromag/SPAR build. Need to get some seat time with that one at some point, but so far I'm liking it. Started off as an idea on what to do with a Classic body I got in a boxlot of junk, added a reg cap from Kit to a Classic valve I bought from Toestr, got a SPAR frame built by rawbutter out of an RT frame I bought from Alexndl, decided I wanted to ditch the whole SS body with Cocker adapter and got a Micromag from BandAidFTW to bolt everything else onto.

And God turned to Gabriel and said: โ€œI shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.โ€

โ€œBut Lord,โ€ asked Gabriel, โ€œIs this not too generous to these Canadians?โ€

And God replied, โ€œJust wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I know at least 4 prior owners of this mini buzzard, nice marker, but I can see why its changed hands so much

At this point I have very few that aren't in some way MCB made. The pirate Sheridan is my MCB gun, though.

I bought this from mAd. It was originally built to be a "superstocker" with a vert ASA, and the feed tube cut down to accept 10 round tubes, Still had some rough paint on it.

The stock was made by MAr.
The brass work, the bolt mod, and the ASA mount were done by a guy from a few hours away by the username of badger(he also did that crazy tipx magfed sheridan).
The trigger group was one of those MCB knowledge tid-bits. I believe Stilgar was the one who mentioned this Crosman trigger group fit sheridans with a modified sear. Ordered it straight from Crosman.
The ASA came on a gun I got in a trade.
And in true MCB fashion it hasn't worked properly in like 5 years, but when it does, it shoots so straight.

My only gun right now is a (retired?) MCB members gun. A red phantom with Hawaiian laser engraving on the barrel.

got it from hurt cow who I met for the first time at Bacci mountain this most recent trip.

I had a Houndstooth with some red parts on it that was a community gun. It worked okay, but was one of the older large bore PPS guns and it was a little wonky. I feel like Killerito may have been the most recent owner, but I'm unsure.

Most of my collection is what I would consider Community markers.

Rtp. Mac 1, armson, mags, cockers, sheridans... all bought, and added to with parts procured by this lovely corner of the interwebz.

MAr used to have a good name for the markers that get passed around frequently. I forget the exact term, but the " community" aspect was very loose.

I don't have it anymore, but The Relic from Lt. head-shot definitely falls into the community marker category. That was the coolest marker I've ever owned

Ah man, I was just looking at pictures of that gun again. Should have never sold it. Especially since I don't have access to a mill any more and can't make another one.

I was going to say, I've definitely seen that one change hands before and was surprised to see it up for sale again so soon.
