    Can't beat free.

A buddy of mine is a little bit of a pack rat. But he and his lady are looking to move out of state for retirement, so he's finally clearing out his garage and basement. Today, he hit me up with a "hey man, I have some old paintball stuff if you want it. You play right?" So I go "Hell yeah!" and rushed over.

He unloaded a box into my trunk. Within it were a TON of old Indian Springs pods and harnesses, a Pro-Lite, extra parts, and 3x JT X-Fire's. I already have two other Pro-Lite's, so with the new one and the three masks, it looks like I've got myself a solid loaner fleet.

He had a hopper on the gun STILL WITH PAINT IN IT. Old, swollen Marblizer, it looked like. And the 20oz CO2 from 1996 still has air in it. Lol. I'll use that for trouble shooting.

Can't beat free, am I right? What have you "inherited" for $0? I want to hear some stories.

I'll get you pics. I need to clear out a duffel bag to get everything out of my car without the neighbors noticing.

But it's that unmistakable green. If it ain't Marbs, it's BigBall.

I got an old angel LED from my cousin who used to play paintball. I paid 300 for his entire box of junk just because I didn’t want the LED going to fleabay.

I was looking to get into Automags years ago. A local guy had a factory stock classic mag w/VHS tape he was looking to sell, but he wasn’t trying real hard. Easy going older gentleman who helped the kids learn. Just liked to laugh & have fun shooting his A-5s. So he loaned it to me for a couple weeks & I really liked it. I offered to buy it & he said “Tell ya what- how about you just keep it? You enjoy it, so you keep it.”

He passed away a few years ago. The man was a saint who made so many people smile & was a friend to all.

Sounds like the friend I was talking about. Doesn't give a shit about money, so long as you're having a good time.

RIP, whomever this saint is. The world could use a few more of them.

The doctor my wife works for moved a couple of years ago. I had a truck & trailer so i hauled off most of what she didn’t want to take. Her husband had passed away a couple of years before that & he had several hobbies so a lot of the stuff was from those hobbies. While moving stuff out of her attic i was shocked to see an old school Spectra just sitting there. A little dusty but the lense, foam & strap were in shockingly good condition. Also found a like new Sony PSP in what i at first thought was a sunglasses case.

My Dad's friend gave me an Epiranha stbb with revvy a few years ago. It was his brother's who had moved across the country years earlier and it was just sitting in his garage. I woke up one morning to find that monstrosity of camo hockey tape sitting on the kitchen counter.

My neighbor also gave me a BT4 and VS1. I ended up giving the VS1 away to Trbo323 and I'm keeping the BT for a loner.

Third of Five hooked me up with a cool JT X-Fire mask! I can't remember exactly, but somehow I had worked out that Hugh has scooped up a local Kijiji sale I was watching , and the lot had a nice shape black and olive X-Fire I had been eyeing. I'd always liked the look of X-Fires back when they came out, so I reached out to him and offered to buy it, and he said I could just have it. Pretty cool ! I think I did force him to take some spare parts, odds and end I had as a trade, but anyhow, very nice gesture for sure!

Oh yeah. These are Marbs. You can still see the swirl somewhat. There's so much oil and schmoo in the hopper. Lol.

The kit also came with a bunch of Indian Springs goodies. Indian Springs home field was one of the first fields I ever played at. This whole thing is bringing back some great memories.

The Pro-Lite has DEFINITELY had a trigger job of some sort; or at least had a respringing. It's a much lighter pull than on my other two. And it has a blue aluminum aftermarket bolt. No idea what make, but cool.

The one X-Fire is in good shape, the other needs some time in the sunlight to reshape it. Both need new foam and lenses. But they'll make good loaners.

And I got two CO2 tanks with a 4/1996 birthdate, and they're both full. Lol.

So I dropped 6 drops of Gold Cup into the ASA, screwed on one of the CO2 tanks, and the damn thing fired and cycled like it had never been packed away. Unreal. Un-freaking-real. People can hate on blowbacks all they want, but I'm willing to bet that none of these space guns would air up just fine after 20 years of sitting in a basement.

Just taking a guess/spitballing, but could that bolt be a Starfire bolt? IIRC, someone made an aftermarket bolt for a bunch of things that was blue & for some reason the Starfire came to mind.

I think you're right. I googled it, and it looks like that might be it. I need to look down the front to be completely agree. Picco Starfire is what I found.

When I was 15 years old at my first big scenario game a proshop guy at the field gave me this gigantic purple Marballizer banner at the end of the day, and that baby still adorned the walls (plural, it took up more than one wall) of my room when I left home at 18. At the same event they also gave away a brand new Vforce Grill to my best friend who was playing for the first time. We were on cloud nine that day. Thanks for the memories, Canobie Paintball.

I worked with a kid named Justice who was moving across the country. We had talked about paintball a few times and he asked if I wanted his paintball stuff before he moved. I of course said yes and my loaner fleet was born.
              - M98
              - Bruiser Sport (later swapped for another M98)

Those two guns have gotten about 20 people involved in the sport.

Talked to a lawyer buddy at work and turned out he used to play in the early '00s. He had DM of some sort at his mother's house that he wanted to hold on to for sentimental purposes but when he found out I still played he said he had another old gun I could have if I could get it working.

One one pneumatic hose later and we were back in business.
