Home compressor is a game changer

I really hate to throw out the phrase game changer but I just picked up one of these:

I, like most people here have alot of old markers that need testing and tuning which is a pain since a few good leaks will empty a tank and end my tuning day. Now I don't have such problems and have teched so many markers today I feel like most of them actually work for a change.

Dont get me wrong, this thing isn't fast but I have been filling a 13ci and it takes about 10 minutes. My process is, test a marker, fix leaks, refill and repeat. So far it has been reliable and has an auto pressure shut off. It's a little loud but I just sit on the other side of the basement and let it run.
"but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

    (chuckling quietly) "we know"

Fantastic! I just ordered one because I've been using one of the bicycle-style pumps to get me to 3000psi for testing. It's rough when you have a big leak you need to diagnose and ten minutes of pumping gets you 5 seconds of WHOOSH.

Yep, I could imagine a hand pump would be no bueno. For fun I tried to fill my 68/4500 and about 45 minutes later I had about 2500psi but with a 13ci it would fill fast enough that by the time I fixed the leak I had a full tank again.

I've been using Yong heng compressors for years now for air at my outlaw field. They are about the same price can fill a 48ci in a couple minutes and can fill a scuba in 30 mins. Not sure why more people don't get these personal high pressure air compressors, they are great !
Gas, Grass or Brass, no one rides for free...

For me I think between the noise and power draw it'd be overkill for tinkering at home once in awhile with a 13ci tank but it's cool to see those are an option now. How much do those need to be serviced/are the reliable over many uses?

The first one I had blew piston rings after filling probably 50 scubas. After rebuilding it, it took way longer to fill. Because they are so cheap I just bought another one. That one has been going strong for years. Do have to change the oil periodically.

A tip for preserving air during testing is to use a remote line with a slide check. With the line not connected fill it then turn off the tank. Attach it to the gun and air it up to test for leaks. If it's ok you can turn the tank on and continue with testing. This way you limit the amount of air that you can lose if there's a leak.

It is definitely annoying but most of the sound actually comes from the fan and not compressor. Kind of like a vacuum cleaner

There are tiny 4500’s you can get as reg testers, (they’re just little steel tanks that take less time to fill due to their tiny size). I imagine they’d work just as well for testing regs as testing markers. I got them to play with and for the novelty (they just arrived today so I haven’t tested em out yet), but I’m sure they’ll see some use for that as well.

No stamp on these? So, you'll have to self fill?

well technically they are not tanks, they are more like fittings ...

Where did you get these? How much did it cost you to buy them?

That’s a great price for something so practical. You can barely get a decent 100psi compressor for that though so I do sorta wonder how many tanks you’ll be able to fill before it lunches itself.

I don’t like linking to this site because they frequently take people’s money for products they do not have in stock...(hint: they’re the largest online retailer in this sport). They seem to be the only company selling them, but I also saw some on eBay. I paid $20 apiece (they sell only the tank, you add your own reg). There’s also a video on the page with pleasant beard guy (I don’t mind him) explaining what they are.

Search for “core mini tank pressure tester,” that is the way

Edit: XEMON linked to it a few posts above this

What internal volume to they have?
Do you have a pic from the top?

m wondering if they could be "HPA alternatives/equivalent to 12g" 🤔

              Powerhouse also makes one.

What is the shot count on these. Thinking they might work great for pistol/pump play.

also what reg do you have on those.

Haven’t tested yet, will soon. Should be in the ballpark of 40+ per bottle on a decent, lower pressure marker.

These are the regs (happy to promote these guys)

The workhorse of the Ninja regulator line is our Ninja Standard regulator. This regulator is our least expensive regulator available while still giving you the ability to adjust your ouput pressure to whatever marker you decide to shoot.
