Violence of action... not equipment, but very underrated on today's battlefield, I mean paintball fields. Too many people are lazy cowards when it comes to making moves.
So many folks wear basic tennis shoes or sneakers and then wonder why they can't get traction on grass or gravel.
I've long been a punk, so the option is almost always 'Attack!', which, in paintball, is usually the correct response. Even in the defense, be aggressive! What's the worst that could (usually) happen? I get eliminated? Big deal....
As for underrated gear: neck protectors. I never see anyone wearing one. I've taken two hits to the neck, and I was thankful I was wearing something in between each time.
The "agg" thing was amusing in its time, because aggressive individuals/teams never needed to advertise the fact. Some things are best left unsaid.

I still have my dye neck protector. had it over 7 years now.

One of my buddies has a scar on his adams apple from a paintball. Personally I use a shemagh wrapped around my neck like a scarf, it always amazes me at the end of the day when I take it off and a couple unbroken paintballs will fall out that I never even felt or knew were there while I was out playing. Protect your neck.

A nice beanie. Protects my bald noggin from the sun, catches a bounce every now and then, and keeps my from bleeding if I get domed.
Sunscreen. No hair + fair skin = very unpleasant sunburns.
I also really like the yellow and amber lenses. They increase the contrast quite a bit, especially in low light.

Volleyball knee pads - I wear them under my pants. I always play in the woods and there are always rocks and roots next to bunkers. I can kneel down for hours without any issues.
Palmers Stabilizer - def not underrated years ago but don't seem so popular now but I still love the ones I have. Last year at stocktoberfest with brand new empire sniper the reg blew apart into the second game of the day, it sure didn't like the co2. This year I put on one of my stabilizers and on my radar chrony shot 275-275-277 using a 12 gram co2. Worked flawless all day.
I second the sweatband/headwrap - I sweat quite a bit and the head wrap keeps sweat from soaking the goggle foam and eventually getting into the goggles causing drips and fog. Plus cleanish hair at the end of the day is nice.
Spray bottle with 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water - keep it in my gear bag and it is amazingly quick to clean paint off goggles, 90% of the time with one application and paper towel and no streaks.

Crash shorts/knee pads. These have made the next day bearable as I've gotten older.
Exalt squeegees, not needing to remove a barrel and getting it basically polished is fantastic.

Single triggers. Love 'em, need them on everything I own if possible.
Knee pads of any kind.
Mask fans and visors! I keep using Spectra based goggles because I can run a visor and fans. Last time I played in the rain I lost count of how many people were complaining about the rain on and in their lenses.
Soft ears - again, using Spectra based goggles. Had a bounce last weekend off my left ear... sucked but better than picking paint and shell out of my ear.
I'll second drop forwards...

Old school straight duckbill ASA's
Add a peanut tank of your choice, and the gun shoulders at the same length as a 68 tank paired with a modern ASA that is flush with the rear grip frame (like a POPS, or Inception ASA, etc)
Plus they are OG cool!

Bounce hats, knee pads, and any protective gear.
My 50 year old body still feels human after a day of play when I pad up.

Lotta folks in my group talked trash initially about the FSC Pistol, which took me off guard. Yes, its a miniature version of a T8.1. That seemed to be the narrative. That's the best thing about it though... A smaller version of a really great magfed gun. I've carried plenty of sidearms and the FSC is by far the easiest, lightest sidearm. And it packs a 68 cal punch too. Simplified design that makes disassembly a breeze compared with T8's.
