Looks like maybe an Air Power Apex?

Looks like his hand is over where the barrel should be...

I mean....it's fine for your red dot to point into your hopper. I've run markers that way. It still overlays on your vision accurately for your other eye.

So, it uses the occlude eye principal?

Who was this Adco company? I know of at least a half dozen companies with the name.

No occluded eye principal necessary. That’s a right-feed gun there. Plus the shooter has his left eye closed, so...

Mechanics of this cheapie sight aside, the artwork is pretty radical. OG goodness.

Nobody has mentioned that he’s shooting a duck target with a paintball gun. Who does that?

Also, the reason why bottom line grips were invented is because you can’t do what he’s doing. That mask and that bottle are in the way of the guy being able to use the site. You can’t get your head close enough to the gun.

I myself, think it looks more like an Emu target....just saying.

You can definitely site with a backbottle.... at least back when dot sites were popular.. Remember, back in the 80s and early 90s, most of us just wore goggles. A few wore small front masks. (ie woodstalk, jt, scott, etc) Nothing was covering the side of your face.. The mask in the picture did not come out until dot sites were out of fashion... which is probobly why the ducks are shown?

That said, dot sites were designed to be used with both eyes open. It was parallaxed, so your eyes did not need to be lined up with the site. Very handy for quick shooting, and shooting while running, etc.

My guess is they wanted to illustrate what it's like to look down the sight, but putting an actual human silhouette struck the designer and/or management as a tad ghoulish

...are you saying that mask didn’t exist when the packaging was printed? Everything in the illustration looks roughly Bush I era to me and exactly in line with my memories except that he’s doing the impossible.

The reason I bought a bottom line adaptor for my Lonestar grip in 1992 is because when wearing the very JT goggle in the drawing I couldn’t sight with a 7oz back bottle unless it was a higher rise site. The mask doesn’t matter, the goggle itself sticks way far out from your eyes. It’s like a dog’s Cone of Shame. The gun in my case was a Trracer but it’s true of almost every gun where the bottle screws directly into the back of the top tube at whatever the standard angle is. That really is why bottom lines were invented. It’s different with a twin tube thing, you’d get an extra inch or so.

                      .
I meant that the "full style" mask didnt come a little later. maybe 92 etc. But around 1990, I had a simple JT "bug" mask. Just front protection, and I had no trouble using dot sites. I even had buttstocks on all my 7oz tanks.

So I think we are thinking of slightly different eras. Regardless, yes, the picture is stupid. As masks got larger and larger, traditional style backbottles because pointless. Oddly, bottomlines sorta predate backbottles if you think of cali-style setups.

Don't forget that the image was drawn by a corporation trying to sell red dot sights... Advertising that they don't work well with full masks and back bottle does not help sales
