    You learn something new everyday

Last time I was at the field a random guy made a comment about my JT mask being worth $. I kinda dismissed it out of hand as I’ve been wearing the same mask forever. Fast forward to discount paintball, I’m in the shop talking to the owner and he was laughing about someone offering “ big $” for an old pro flex. I told him my story, had a chuckle and I went on my way. Stumbled across a bst JT on Facebook put a pic of my mask on there and got offered $250 for it. I’ve been on MCB for a while and I understand nostalgia but for god sake they still make pro flex’s. Even tho I love that mask I’m pretty sure I can get 2 new ones at that price. What am I missing?

Classic (2000s) JTs are huge collector items and good for lots of money. People are "collectors" and drive the price up. Masks like JT IZE and Revos are all very pricey as well. A lot has to do with the manufacture date on the parts. I guess it's kind of like people who collect running shoes!? I've never fully been able to figure out the JT market, but have sold off some masks for good amounts so I just go with it. Spectra/Proshields aren't worth as much, but thin frames masks are preferable to wider framed ones.

In the world of collectors and "gotta have its" you'll find those paying outrageous amounts for items. The JT mask craze of the past couple of years is a prime example.

It boggles my mind as well. I too was offered a good amount for my original JT Flex 7 from 1997 that I still use. It's the only mask I've ever had and wasn't about to let it go.

Was talking with a group of tournament kids about JT masks and Sandanas, got told that a guy sold ONE headband for $700 and a complete mask for $2500.

Damn near choked on my lunch.

I understand high prices for custom pieces that aren't made any more, like Carter Ducks. But good lord for a piece of cloth and a mask that has been made for 20 years.... no thanks.

My old flex that I’ve had for like 15years that was supposedly rare, just kind of fell apart recently from years of use (frames + lens). Always cleaned it and stored it properly though. Wonder if some of these being collected will also just get brittle and fall apart over time.

Yup, JT IZE are have overly flexible bottoms. Would never play with. But half of these are shelf decorations and not actually used.

Yup that strap bottoms and frames are worth money they use to bring a lot more before the re released the white. But the older ones are still worth a lot to some people.

Lol. I literally have no idea what any of that means. I trade a chrono for it back in the day. Glad it’s worth something. Thanks for letting me know

Eps frames..... These were sold by jt publicly and have the pearly color you see.

HB frames were only sold at Huntington Beach nppl and were not pearly.

Essentially what others have said. There's a good amount of nostalgia for them, but it really is just a group of collectors that drive up the price over "functional" value, and in turn, that pushes other people to start collecting. The thin frame and anything with the older JT logo with decent foam goes for big bucks. Anything clear goes for big bucks.

There is a difference between the old stuff and the new stuff, I can tell you first hand having my old Spectras and IZE vs a brand new bandana set. The older foam was definitely softer, though the new foam looks like it will last longer and break in nicely. The newer flex bottoms are a bit awkward feeling (as far as how flexible it is), and (to me) have a slightly different shape. That may have started the collecting, but, to be honest, most of it is just based on rarity and age. Simple black? not much. Limited editions (like the Huntington Beach stuff)? Big money.

I played an entire season of PSP back in the day on some Jt White Revo masks I found on the top of the shelf all dusty in my local proshop.

All the Revo parts do. They were the ones with extra set of Revo 1 ears to I got $95 just for a white pair alone. One pair I took an entire setup on trade and did really good on that. Back when I was still doing social media i hustled a lot of Jt goods. Now I just buy stuff I really want.

Which colors of the old Spectras are worth money? Because I've got an all-black ProShield, all olive, and a green/black Flex-7 all from 1998 or so.

Any of those in good shape will fetch cash, but the most is for anything with the thin frames and old flex bottoms. Also if you have the old school visor in good shape.

Those are pretty common and not worth nearly as much as burgundy or blue/grey flex stuff from the late 90s.
