    Field One G7R???

So I’ve been lurking in places I don’t belong because I want to preserve my savings account. Stumbled across a poster on FB and Reddit stating Greenspan has announced in his YT live-stream, a possible g7r release coming soon. Big of true, I’m not doubting the poster since he seems to be knowledgeable and may even be a member here. What have you heard or seen? I may actually spring for one if they are sweeter than the g6r.

With World Cup coming up it doesn’t surprise me. I know that a possible new shocker has been spotted also. Would definitely be on board with a new stack tube poppet.

I’m excited. These spools don’t do it for me. I have a newly acquired Etha 2 and while testing it, there’s something I don’t like. It’s almost too refined (for a “budget” electro). I’ll play a couple games with it before I decide to let her go. At least I didn’t break the bank getting it, I don’t see how it’s worth 400+ brand new.

I've never been impressed with any BL stacked poppet

As a disclaimer, I used to work for a shop that serviced all BL legacy products (as in, if you wanted to send it to BL/field one, it came to me) and had the capability to do any current BL products. I worked on every BL poppet gen 1 through g6r. While the g6r I will say is decent compared to like gen 3, they have just never impressed me in any respect

Color me excited. I wasn't the biggest fan of the G6r after actually using one but I'm a long time Bob Long fan. If the G7r gets a longer platform and shoots as smooth as an LV I'll be in line to buy one.

Since you have experience with these things, what is it you don’t like about the g6r? I have no experience with Intimidators, my first should arrive Monday. Dark Timmy I bought from Jasper, I’m excited to rip into it and see what they’re about.

I received my Timmy on Saturday, leaked like the seller said it did. I got her all cleaned up and the lpr no longer creeps. It wasn’t as bad as I expected, seems to shoot nicely. Can’t wait to run it.

My biggest gripe with the g6r is that if you are trying to track down a leak, you can't gas it up with the frame off like you can most other stacked poppets it's basically a big game of guess and check

All BL stacked poppets, the routing for the wires and tubing is pretty clearly an afterthought. It's a little better with the g6r but for instance, every marker through gen 4 has the LPR output barb in a position that blocks the screw that holds the front block on. It's not in a direct line Wich leads people to try and remove the screw without taking the barb out. Steel vs. brass, the steel screw wins and the barb gets sheered off typically leaving the threads in the front block

The barbs themselves are also a pita as they are brass and hollow. Too little torque and they leak, too much and you sheer them off

(Pro tip, use a socket WITHOUT the ratchet to screw these in. Use the socket in your hand alone and typically you can get the correct amount of torque on them)

In bob's world eye wires are 2 dimensional lines and don't take up any physical space at all, thus resulting in many a pinched eye wire

I don't remember how it worked on the g6r but turning the eyes off on anything through gen 4 was not very well thought out, you basically had to go into the programming of the board, navigating the menu to do it and even then bob decided on some of the dumbest terms to define what the eyes are doing, stuff like "force mode" and delay mode, represented by a F, D and S (WHY S BOB!?!) On the screen for "dry fire mode" aka...off

Basically, it was NOT something you want to try and do during a game, God forbid you break paint

Anyway there's more, like the torpedo regs having wear groves in the side walls, or being basically a Palmer's stabilizer with the wrong seals, bad annos, 5 different screw sizes when some planning could have used 1 size, using dow55 as a way to swell o rings, if you ask me because of not enough r&d (no I don't know that for sure but tolerances on BL stuff always seemed a little hit and miss so if you swell all the rings it can make up for it)

Anyway, I'm sure people will not like my words here, to be fair, BL stuff usually shoots pretty nice but too me, there's lots of nice shooting markers out there so if I like a marker comes down to a lot more than how it shoots. I used to want a g6r before I had that job. I owned a etek3 at the time but after working with a few I just wasn't impressed. My brother in law picked up a vanguard creed and after going through it I was so impressed I picked one up myself and it's now my main electro. It's still a stacked poppet but the execution of the design was, if you ask me, ahead of it's time and rivals much of the stuff that is out there today

I don’t think anyone will hate what you say. You answered my question with good detail and now I’ll know what to look for when my Timmy arrives. The description mentions a leak in the front block, so now I have an idea what to look for.
I’ve always used a socket and that method for installation, I’ve also had barbs snap trying to remove them.
Hopefully those issues will be addressed IF the g7r is coming out.

I sold a Cyborg to get a Vice, and had those exact complaints. Barbs, hoses, and eyes always bugged me.

i remember what a pain it was to work on the g6r. Every screw used a different size allen wrench. In a world with tool-less markers, it would be nice if all or at least most of the hardware used the same size allen...
it was everything a marker is "supposed to be"...

                  light
                  quick
                  efficient
                  minimal kick
                  packed full of features

it just felt it was designed by a committee to be the seen as "the best", to move the most units. And it makes sense; it was great, and it sold allot of product but it was missing a kind of "soul" or "passion". Nothing was done simply because they just wanted to, but rather a calculated decision between cost, performance, and aesthetics. Everything was a calculated committee decision.

Most often thats the case and its why they are still around and still selling markers. this isnt limited to paintball either. Mazda has their rotary; a funky passion project that was not a cookie cutter engine. but in the end, it wouldnt sell enough to keep around. Angel has a funky tri-tube set up with a hall-effect trigger but eventually went under.

                    Meh....

Both g6r's I had were maintenance queens.... If they weren't set juuuuuuust right they threw a fit. I won't be buying one as much as I miss poppit guns that look halfway good.

As much as I love the shot and weight of a G6R, I would rather have the LV1 and know it's just going to work. Both shoot smoothly and are poppets but the BL guns are a balancing act to keep them running. The LV line just works. I want a simple, smooth poppet and the LV line checks all the boxes. I think I just really like the look of the BL guns and that's why I keep going back but after the last few I have had, I will not be buying another. I love my shocker and I will stay with the spool for now but one day I will probably add another poppet and as tempting as a G6R or G7R would be, I will go PE.

My little brother had a G6R and that thing was mean on the field. But everyone is right, you don't do self maintenance on it. You clean it and add lube but otherwise left it alone.
It was like a high end car, perfect right out of the tuner shop, but god help you if you wanted to try lowering pressure a notch to smooth out the shot a bit. Having a 450psi output tank was also kinda needed, seemed to help a lot.

My A-Bomb timmy, beautiful though. Love this thing, equally as mean on the field, and much easier to work on.

Looking forward to a new field one poppet. I’ve had no issues working on or with gen3,5,6 now gen4’s are touchy & my least fav. The G6R’s I’ve owned sold & still have in my collection have been the most trouble free guns out of the 60+ different makes & models I’ve owned. My Alias & G6R will always stay in my arsenal. 😉
