    G1 Paintball Beanie (Sort of)

A headband and beanie is totally dope or whatever, but almost always gets too hot. I'm not a fan of wraps at all. And just a headband leaves the head and hair uncovered. I was looking into non paintball specific options for a breathable full head covering and then one day saw an ad for G1 Paintball and this particular "beanie" they make. The headband section is thicker/padded with terry cloth all the way around inside, silicone on the outside to help goggles stay in place, and the top is a nice light breathable material. At last! Everything I was searching for.

Very well made, I don't see this falling apart anytime soon. The headband part is thick enough where adding an additional separate headband over it makes it too thick.

I have owned this for a few months and only used it a couple times, but it's great. No headband ties flopping around or getting stuck between tank butt and shoulder, keeps the sweat out of the eyes, fits nice and snug. I highly recommend it.

They also make a headband version, band minus the top part, as well as traditional style headbands that tie.

I like the idea of these, but my hair is so friggin' thick there's no way it wouldn't make me sweat even with breathable material and I'm not convinced it would fit my dome anyways. Cool to see new soft stuff!

I'm very tempted to pick this up. It might even replace my old Dye beanie (circa early 2000s). But how does it handle headshots?
I went headband only for a few games last year, and then got caught with a ball right at my (receding) hairline. The beanie stayed on after that, no matter how hot I got.

This, plus how is it on the sun blocking? Shaved head + fair skin + sun = super bad sunburns. My beanie might be warm at times, but I'd rather be warm than have a sunburn on the top of my head. Which, for the record, is absolutely freaking miserable.

side note- Struggle is the local team! Always fun to see the locals pop up in marketing. Although I'm not sure who was in their video...

I emailed the company about the sunburn bit and here is their reply:

It does protect from the sun,
The top layer is made of a mesh that resembles the football jerseys but with very tiny holes designed to let air out and not in. Same as the sun.
I’ve received good reviews from shaved-headed players,
I’d say you try it, if it doesn’t work for you, I’ll reimburse you 100% of your order. No questions asked.
The fact that they will stand behind it like that says a lot to me. Will definitely order one in the near future.

Interesting. I have a headband made in that material that I really like. While breathable and stretchy it dose feel a bit bulky, but at the same time offers pretty good protection. I still prefer a good quality Head wrap but I can see how some would like the added protection.

How does this handle breaks? I've seen lots of "bounce caps" in the past that when they get a break they actually absorb the paint and make it hard if not impossible to see.

If it promotes bounces, fine, if it hides breaks, intentional cheating

It’s rare to get bounces on your head. Regardless of what you use. Unless it’s a glancing shot or crap paint. The material they are using feels like if you made a mesh material out of neoprene. I’m sure it’s comfortable, form fitting and breathable. I doubt it’s dose much for bounces but will definitely keep the shell from cutting a bald head.
