Anyone else own an Evil Gerbil bounceband?

So I ordered one of the Evil Gerbil 23 BounceBand 2.0 hat/band things. I was wondering if anyone else here has one and what they are wearing it over. It looks like it's meant to go over a headband or covering. I ordered it but I have no idea what I'm going to wear under it. Since I'm a redhead I need to stay covered and I also hate getting hit in the head. I have a headwrap I could wear but is there something better? Also take into account I play in the sweltering heat of SE GA.

Well, mine doesn't look like that, but I just wear it by itself.

But seriously, never heard of this company, and not a fan of upturned bills with hats or whatever. They seem too tall. What's on the backside? Terry cloth or anything like that?

I don’t have the bounce cap, but I do have Evil Gerbil head wraps and jerseys. They’re relatively local to me and make great stuff. I’d recommend them. Just my $0.02

I don't think this has terrycloth because it's made to go over something. I figured I would try it. I'm not sure if I'm a fan either but I want something that might let me feel cooler.

I'm picky about head gear. This might end up with 4-5 other things I've tried.

Well they're other offerings do look interesting. The bill isn't like a hat bill, it looks, well, actually kinda bouncy. Maybe you can wear a normal sweatband under it. I'm diggin' the sock hats. Even their hat hat is interesting.

How'd you find out about this company?

I'm pretty sure I saw something here or on Facebook about their jerseys. They have cool stuff but a little pricey. I saw these and decided to give it a try.

Evil Gerbil has been around for a long while. I have one of his jerseys but no experience with his head gear though I have been interested in getting a headwrap from him. Definitely high quality make and material and the price reflects that. If you like Renegade style jerseys Evil Gerbil the way to go if you can not find NOS in your size. I am not a fan of "bounce hats" but after getting hit over the top of my goggles last weekend and seeing stars some form of padding up there would be nice.

I also have a raza bounce cap that has some padding in it. I might wear this over that. It offers some actual padding on it. The problem with it is the heat. Honestly, the Armagillo Dreads have been my favorite and best protection so far. It breathes a little and protects pretty well. I just want something that maybe covers a little more in front and that will bounce better. The dreads band doesn't bounce and tends to hurt some if I get hit directly on the band.

I have a couple bounce headbands from Evil Gerbil they're nice quality. I usually wear it with a head wrap under it and use the bounce headband over it. My only complaint though is when you get off the field or on the field. It's kind of a pain since you have to pull your goggles out far to clear the bounce headband if you don't it can come loose.

Yeah I wondered about coming off the field or before we go out and how my mask would go over it with it up.

I will try it with the headwrap I have and see how it does. Thanks for the info.

I own a bounce visor, 2 head bands and a head wrap from evil gerbil. Have gotten two bounces off the visor! But wearing just the visor alone have also taken a few shots to the top of the head, recommend pairing it with a head wrap. I've only used the headbands a few times but definitely recommend the Head wraps, mine breathes pretty well while adding some protection.

Thanks but I canceled my order. It took them over a week to ship the order, and it still hadn't moved. When you pay 120 for a headband you expect it to ship in a few days. I asked for a refund and it took a few more days. I'm sure it's not normal for them but I wasn't going to find out how long it was going to take.

Oddly enough I just came across a jersey from them that I really enjoy the look of, and sent them an email with a few questions about it. I'll be curious to see how long they take to get back to me. JeepDVLZ45 and Grendel do either of you know the difference between evil gerbils lightweight and classic jerseys? Also did either of you get the patch panel? I assume it's just a Velcro friendly space, just not sure where it's located. I emailed the company but MCB may well have my answers before them.

Sorry can not help you out. Mine is classic very similar to the old renegades and no patch panel. I would have to assume the patch panel is on one of the arms but they'll have to let you know.

Looks like this is the light weight with patch panels as mine has no venting and nothing on the shoulders:

For head protection I wear a backwards hat with a bump-cap liner in it like this one from Ergodyne:

It's kinda hot, but protects well. They also sell soft foam versions that can be cut to custom fit.

I wear mine just like the picture posted above. Over a head wrap. You can flip them over and use them as a visor on rainy days too.

I have a few of his bounce visors a OG style Bounce cap. Several jersey patterns. Lots of EG gear it’s top notch quality.

I personally prefer the classic mock neck Jerseys. I like the heavy bull denim it’s super durable. They do get hot in the dead of summer but nothing unbearable.

Eric came out with the vented ones to help keep them cooler while still being durable. But I prefer the classic fit myself. He’s so busy now he dose drops similar to others in the business. Also it can be difficult to source quality material so if there is a specific pattern you’re looking for it’s best to Email him. They are all hand made locally in the US.

The Jerseys Eric made my 10man team for Woods Ball World Cup were super hard to see they blended so well in the woods.

My favorite is probably the OG Timberghost material he found about 5 years ago. I had some tie backs and a Jersey made out of it. Probably one of my favorite pieces. He sometimes gets the reprint material it’s great quality just more of a vibrant pattern then the older stuff.

I just ordered the headband in the first photo below to match my dump pouch in the second photo. I'm still debating ordering the jersey in the third photo to match. I got a pretty quick response contacting evil gerbil on IG with a few questions, and will update the thread on my experience with the headband. I'm excited to get it though!
