It was homemade buffalo chicken bacon ranch pizza. How unhealthy can it be? :P

Beer has enough calories for me to make it through the day. I usually try to get the system ready for combat with a gas station breakfast taquito on the way to the field.

my field had a hot dog roller before covid and I miss it every time I go.

actually- I just remembered that at the free flow open in New York they had a pig roast with brand and Mac and cheese. The food was awesome but I couldn’t move after the lunch break.

In my area, Warplay was doing good for a few years with a food truck but, when the economy went south, they had to stop that. Pev's had a pretty decent food offering for the time. A couple places that were doing hotdogs and such on a grill got reported to the food service inspectors and had to stop doing hot dogs, essentially the only 'fresh' food.

This is all crazytalk to me. We don't take a lunch break where I play, and it's hot and humid as hell. I'd be vomiting in my mask if I tried eating a burger or taco or something in the middle of a day of paintball.

I usually bring some beef jerky and some cashews or pistachios, sometimes some panino rolls (salami wrapped around string mozzarella), and a lot of Powerade to the field. Between those few light snacks and having some kind of breakfast sandwich on the ride over, I don't get hungry. Sure, the birthday party kids will often bring something like pizza and cupcakes and be perfectly fine, but 12 year old boys can always eat like goats without getting sick.

To answer the question: my field just sells sports drinks, water, candy, and a few frozen foods that can be microwaved such as Hot Pockets and these plastic wrapped sloppy joes. Basically gas station food. There are no restaurants or stores for miles around, so players tend to bring their own snacks. I've only been back in the sport since 2020, so I haven't seen any change in that time. Playing outlaw in the 90s, it was whatever you brought in your cooler, of course. Now if it were some big all day event, I'd welcome a BBQ truck or similar.

I never eat before or during play, it makes me sluggish and slow. Love a good fat burger and a beer afterwards, but I can't even have too much water in my stomach or I feel all schloopy

Same I eat after. Only hydration and caffeine before I play.

Since 2009 I've played mostly at OSG, AG, or Topgun (RIP).

I've watched OSG go from burger and dogs to the restaurant and bar. The food has absolutely increased in quality.

AG used to order pizza from the local place now they have the Food trailer there. Again much better.

Enough that for Reaperball I've switched from going to local restaurants (Ag or osg depending on which we are at.) for Saturday Dinner to eating at the field as that simplifys things.

Topgun/Cousins was/is always the Tunaball game and lunch is supplied by one of the group. If you haven't had Pillage's pork you are missing out.

This thread alone has me pumped to attend some of my first paintball games in almost 2 decades!

I recommend keeping your expectations low so when you do get that first juicy bite you pass out.

I usually don't eat when I play. I'll drink a cuppa coffee, or maybe grab a sugar free Monster on the my way to the field, but that's usually it. I'm pretty used to fasting. I've done a few week long fasts, and frequently do 24-72 hour fasts. I generally feel better on an empty stomach, strange as that may sound.

But occasionally I'll play some high quality outlaw ball with the Cleveland Iron League, and a dude named Ehab is a beast on the grill. So when I play with them, i won't eat while we're playing, but I'll definitely chomp down on a burger or two afterwards. That fella can COOK!
