    Paintball Guns in Landfills?

There must be a certain % of paintball guns that work their way into Landfills?

What do you think is in there?

Old Tippmann Gryphons? Old Viewloader blowbacks?

I know for sure of an old local who threw out her BBT autococker... Boy did she feel silly when we told her what they go for.

Also generally when fields shut down if it doesn't get sold it goes to the dump. Top Gun paintball had to shut down so abruptly that about 90% of the rentals got dumped. Alpha blacks, ft20's and a mini or two.

    Just not worth keeping.

I scrapped around 60 prolites prior to moving myself.

With the disposable society we live in anything could end up in a landfill. People often don't care for a items value. All they care is that it is out of their way.

Yup, lots of stuff. Hell I have tried to give away stuff here (accessories) with no takers in the past and some of that stuff went into my scrap buckets and has long since been melted down. Paintball equipment and markers are just things and once things outlive their usefulness or desirability/collectability they are discards that either need to be repurposed or recycled.

Anything with a high percentage of plastic definitely, I've seen a lot of metal parts make their way into recycling to be melted down too.

Probably going to be dumping some of my scrap barrels in recycling shortly

Hey if ya have any junk spyder thread barrels I’d gladly pay shipping on a flat rate box of them. I have a pretty big fleet of beaters I’m working on to loan out and can use barrels even if they’re pretty trashed

when the flex market was in the toilet, I remember cleaning out my room and throwing away a pair of white kee bottoms that were all pink stained from not cleaning for awhile. My old local field had cleaned out a trailer and put all the contents in a dumpster, I rooted around in it after playing for the day and found a phantom barrel and some old carbon fiber tanks. As far as gear goes now a days, I feel bad about trashing stuff, so when I get enough of it, I take it with me to my local field and give it away, its usually all gone by the time I leave.

My guess is the majority of paintball guns ever made ended up in landfills. Especially before Facebook and eBay. Your average middle class consumer isn’t saving up small items for the scrapyard and hey, to most folks a broken paintball gun is like a broken anything else.

I know I have a few in a bin that deserve to be on a landfill….

Well, there's no way to repurpose an expired HPA tank.

                    ive thrown a few away.
gave a milk crate fully of VL bodies and parts to a coworker who hoards things. eventually they will end up in a landfill.

i recycle batteries and one time at the scrap yard, i saw buckets on buckets on buckets of VL bodies, barrels, and parts. they will probably be melted down through.

with the price of everything going through the roof, people are starting to recycle more. taking lead, copper, aluminum, and scrap metal the the yards for some cash.

i wouldnt doubt it though that there would be a 1 of 1 or super rare angel, cocker, or whatever in a landfill somewhere.

your post reminds me, a few years ago I bought a couple beat up prolites from Third of Five for some parts I needed ( the ball latch plate, a main spring etc ) ...i salvaged what I needed from the worst one and sold the better one. That left me with an empty old prolite body that looked like it had been dragged behind a truck ! That pro lite body indeed went into our recycling, I remember hoping they'd sort it and it would go to scrap to get melted down into something new

My (would be) first blazer, BZ737, is in a landfill. Bought from Al (incynr8) on here.

UPS arrived to delivered it and didnt want to drive down my driveway. The driver decided to place it next to my trash cans at the top of the driveway. The next morning was trash day.
This was about 20yrs ago and I am still sore about it.

One other lesson learned from this: Al gave me a really good deal on the blazer (like $325) and insured his shipment to $700 because that is what the gun was worth. UPS would only reimburse the paid price. We even got Glenn Palmer to write a letter stating its $700 price. UPS wouldn't budge.
