    Turning a Splatmaster Speedwheel!

That's right, the top engineers here at Doc's Machine Worldwide Paintball Conglomerate and Taco Wagon, are once again right on the very cutting edge... of forty-year old paintball technology.

I've actually been making these, in low numbers, for years. They still trickle out the door on occasion to those that still want to try their hand at the very first specifically-made-for-paintball marker. I had an order for a small handful of these, so decided to put together a quick video on the process.

(I have more, if anyone's interested- they're on eBay, or just PM me.)

The video's not the greatest, and the sound effects at the beginning are awful- the 'free' SFX that came with my editor are kinda crap- but I think it gets the point across. Let me know what'cha think!

    Doc.

I really want to know what that logo looks like, and kind of want it on a tee shirt

Sounds effects at the start I kind of liked. I was a little disappointed they didn't continue. It's not like the sounds for the rest of the video are explaining anything, they are just kind of, there. That's not a bad thing though.

I always like watching your stuff, they are fun videos. I couldn't read all the tape signs, they were a little small if they were intended to add anything to the video.

How did you manage to make this without any mountain dew? You feeling ok doc?

Look at the bucket at the lower right, at about the 10:25 mark.

      That's not staged.

On the sound effects, generally the ones that are 'royalty free' are pretty basic. A lot of the ones that came with my editor sound like they were generated on, like, an old MIDI synthesizer or something.

At some point I'm going to try to record some of my own...

This makes me want to get a Splatmaster, I wonder how hard it would be to put a Freak insert in one so my paint didn't roll out of the barrel.

The bucket of mountain dew is gold.

Im surprised you do it all on a manual machine. The extra details you add make these parts look good!

Kit has a freak /full metal internal drop in kit for them. I have one. It eliminates the need for the speed wheel and make the in grip ASA standard ASA threaded.

Watching your video, it amazes me that you sell them at 25 odd bucks. All the detail and tooling changes. Cool I also enjoyed the bee-twin Trillin two parts

Make a bunch those things have become gold around here. I know I plan on grabbing extras for future brass builds.

          -Couple of things, there.

First, that's a pre-inflation price. That's the same price as when I started selling those like six or eight years ago. Fair warning if anybody is interested, as I'm going to have to raise my prices a little, on a few things, after the first of the year.

Second, it's not shown in the vid, but I was actually making a run of 25 of those. I had an order for half a dozen, and I only had like eight or nine left in inventory. So I made a small run not only to cover the order, but also build my inventory back up a bit.

Yeah, it's time-consuming to do it this way, the old fashioned way, but when you're doing 25 parts per operation, the time-per-part goes down quite a bit.

I should have used one of the CNC lathes for this, but given how long it takes me to program and test a fairly complex part, when I'm only doing 25, it's almost quicker (for me) to do it manually.

Besides, I wanted to do a "build video"- and watching a CNC cut the thing isn't as much fun.

I figured there were more pieces than the video showed. Just watching you change out the lathe collets three times lol. By all means though please post more I loved the machining porn.

That was neat! I've never gotten to play with a Splatmaster and have always kinda wanted to. Also, I'd always thought the Sheridan PG came first but after a bit of research it looks like no, both were developed more or less around the same time and the Splatmaster was available first.

Question; how did you make that thing cycle modern paint?

I didn't. I recorded three shooting three different tubes, and got a break in each one of them.

I saw that on the last tube. Guess the Splatmaster doesn't like modern paint any more than the rest of us do...
