    Paintball shops in/near Rochester MN

I'll be in Rochester for a week as my wife is receiving treatment at Mayo Clinic. Any paintball shops to peruse?

While Minnesota has a number of fields scattered throughout the state (though mainly south of St. Cloud), it does not have many proshops that keep non-field or weekday hours. Splatball may have a proshop but I believe they are appointment-only during the week and that is in Minneapolis, about a 90 minute drive.

Yeah, Rochester is kind of a silo town down south of the cities. Not much that I know of out that way, but it's bout an hour and a half drive for me.

Mn Pro paintball used to have a nice shop in Burnsville. There was also a nice mom n pop shop in the same town called adventure zone. Both are closed up now.

I think vintage paintball in River Falls Wisconsin would be your best bet, but I wouldnt support Vintage if they were the last paintball shop in the world. Its also a hell of a drive.

Depending on which week you will be out here, Id be willing to try to meet up for a dinner or something if schedules worked out. ( and or if you are interested).

No, it's honestly a pretty long story. I'm sure a being ST sponsored for over a decade is a factor for me, as Tholey and Darrin have some long standing beef from like the 80s tournament scene. But tholey and or staff have just treated myself or my friends like dog shit every time I've tried to go there.

Big game scheduling is just him proving my point, as it seems to only be to compete with ST on big game days rather than just offset them so everyone wins.

Tholey is an asshole in person. I met him once when he was at the pro shop years ago, he was just prickish in general, short with his answers and not at all helpful. I ended up not purchasing anything as a result. After the fact have heard three accounts of personal friends buying their used markers, being told they have a warranty, having said markers fail shortly after, and being told to pound sand after returning to the pro shop. The third friend literally called me looking at an axe. And asked if he should buy it from their shop. I said no. He bought it anyways, and it failed that weekend. Low and behold. The pro shop employee told him he's out of luck.

Vintage bastardizes many items, marks them up , and sells them as " rare". They dyed a handful of clear flexes about 8 years ago, and tried to sell them as factory one of a kinds. They got roasted pretty hard on FB iirc. They also sliced an rsx up back when they were new, and tried to sell it for like 2k.

80 dollars a case last I went to his field.

I've also had the pleasure of him personally asking my team to bring a tank to the field for a big game, saying he would take care of us if we brought our tank. We didnt want to bring it as it was a hassle to operate. He needed it for game balancing as the other team had a tank. Then proceeded to make us all buy our player admissions to operate said tank. Also didn't toss in a case or two for the tank which was mission driven by the field. He then made us sit on the sidelines most the game as the game was too one sided, and our tank was on the winning side. He made the tank crew sit on standby the whole game in case they wanted a tank again. Wouldn't refund admission, wouldn't let the players play.

All of that doesn't offset that I'm not a fan of the field over all. It's small, and mainly flat with a hill on the one side. Their airball field is nice enough, but meh.

I did have fun at the first big game I played there, but we literally drove the enemy to their spawn vote halves and it was boring.

All in all... I'm not a fan of the guy.

BrickHaus That’s a lot of reasons lol. I never really had a problem with him, but really only played at his field. He does kind of give off a weird salesman-y vibe most of the time, but I never bought anything but paint anyway.

I thought his open mystery boxes that contained few of the things in the pictures that were posted on old MCB were pretty scummy, and I knew about that before ever going to vintage so I was on the lookout
