I found 25 year old photos today. Shocker, Automag, and Raptor inside.

I knew these photos existed but I had been unable to locate them for a couple of decades now, even after moving house numerous times. I'm unsure why I took these photos but glad to have the trip down memory lane.

I used my mobile to take pics of them. Enjoy!

Indeed! I had gotten the Raptor at a hardware store in a very small town. I proceeded to get all the Smart Parts bits for it. There was a Bob Long bolt on the inside also.

I’ve got some almost-20yo pics in an old computer that no longer boots. I should pull those drives & get those pics.

EDIT: And all hail the mighty Raptor! Great STBBs. Had a 2000 LTD for a couple years, bought from melkson & eventually sold it back to him. One of the most accurate & consistent blowbacks I’ve ever shot.

I really liked the Raptor. It did perform well. I even wielded it in a tourney back in the 90's.

I was going to say something like “What’s it like to have a grip worth more than the gun it’s on?”, but then I remembered that I have a SP grip on my Trracer….

At the time though, it was the other way around. The grips were $39.99 and the Raptor was $149.99 or $169.99.

I didn't realize SP grips were valuable? I have a bunch laying around. They seemed to fall out of favor 15 years ago when we all hated Smart Parts.

Thats the great thing about lonestar grips that people forget. You have about a million different types of grips you can swap out. Not just the panels, but I've seen revolver style grips, psg1, plus all the old school eurogrips, gatorgrips, and every variety of 45-grips. Who made those solid wood grips? was that also SP? And of course Carter had those fake-ivory grips.

Heck, I used to buy up all the broken Mokal Mirages I saw on Ebay just to salvage the grip... since it had a great built-in ASA..
I can't think of any modern paintguns that have removeable grips? Not just panels, and obviously ignoring retro stuff like Phantoms, Ghosts and stock class.

Custom grips have gone by the wayside along with the rest of the aftermarket parts segment. In all fairness most of this stuff was just BS money wasters anyway, but it was fun

you are not wrong. But my “old school brain” looks at how trendy the ar15 has become in the last 20 years and my first thought is…. Look at all the cool grips I can use on my early 90s blowbacks!
