So I have not disassembled one of these for anno before. I notice a lot of custom projects seem to avoid disassembling these to match the color. Are these excruciatingly difficult to take apart?

The "z" pin needs to come out, which can be a pain, but more importantly, the valve halves are "clocked" and don't always line up properly after re-anno.
If that happens, the quickstrip bolt hole and the z-pin don't line up correctly unless the halves are left slightly unscrewed, which can lead to leaks. -
Yeah basically the tolerances are so tight that most people don't want to risk messing them up

Yes, the original ones were done by AGD so they took all the risk of messing up the tolerances. Also any one that was successfully annoed and works fine is obviously valued as such

Dumb question regarding the clocking issue but wouldn’t it be possible to strip and re anodize everything but the threads and the joining faces of the valve body?
it would require more work but I think it could be done but perhaps I am incorrect.Comment
