Might be tricky to have it be universally compatible depending on where the vertical inlets for gas are. Perhaps if it came with a plug for vertical ASAs and some sort of ported valve retention plug? Even then I see there being issues with such a frame working with a lot of Spyder bodies.

I'm willing to bet the air is routed through the trigger guard, and that's why it's so big with no room for a foregrip. That's probably the only easy way to get air to the front of the marker.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the I&I sports catalog back in the day. Paintball and ninja stuff was really my jam at 13.

After I realized it was real, and not a photoshop hack job... I think I like it. The P90 style foregrip thing is rad. Good on them for trying literally anything new on a STBB chassis.

Can't add a reg.
Can't add an on/off ASA.
Can't add a drop.
Can't run a small vertical tank.
Can't even swap out the grips.

Remind me again how this setup is somehow an "improvement"?

More like 2003 actually. Only drops I could find in 98-99 were HPA cradles. Ended up using an around the tank ring cradle for my old stingray. All I really needed was a 4" drop so I could use the ridiculously long 12oz I had back then.

People need a more reliable better base gun more than they need infinite tinkerability...especially at big box retail, where I’m sure the idea of kids modifying their guns is not popular. Why would you add a reg to this gun? Not only is it a cheap ugly POS below such things but, it works, right, we can assume? Meanwhile, no macro lines blowing out, no pipe tape, no stuck regs, and no stupid looking vestigial aftermarket BS to steal money from 12 year olds.

Guns that have problems need parts...which is why there are more parts for cockers than anything else and virtually no Trracer accessories. This gun will probably work perfectly until someone screws it up by trying to make it shoot faster or look better. The profoundly ugly looks should motivate the owner to get a better gun and give this one away to the next noob rather than spend money on it. It’s Splatmaster 2020.

"I" enjoy ALL of those things. At the games highest point in popularity we had entire forums specifically about doing all those things. So I repeat myself, how is making those things harder in any way an improvement?

Seconded. Most of what I use has an external regulator, aftermarket grips, and a drop. The drops shorten the overall length, give the markers a great center of gravity, and put the barrel right at eye level. Adjustable ergonomics

I love you man, and all you've done for Brass Eagle modding, but drops and or vertical bottles gotta stay in the past. I'm with you on the rest of that though.

And you're the only one who does. The store I worked at had piles of drops we couldn't give away. No one uses them. And the only time I see vertical tanks are on old spyders where people are too cheap to put a gas-thru on it. You can make an argument for on/offs and regs, but people don't really do that kind of stuff anymore either.

So yeah, manufacturers aren't going to make design decisions based on the two people who want things different from everyone else. They're not going to put in features that no one wants. Most of the modding communities that existed before only existed in the frist place because guns were complete crap back in the day. Making guns actually good out of the box has been the best thing that's happened in paintball over the last 15 years. Making guns less mod-able is not the reason for paintball's decline. I'd also argue that those modding communities represented a tiny fraction of a gun's user base. For every one modded spyder, or tippmann, or ion, there were at least 20 that were left stock. Not many people actually like modding. That became apparent after 2 days of working at a store.
